  • And we joked about your little son dropping the rings down a drain the other day, imagine if the diamonds had gone and the whole congregation on the floor trying to find them!!!!!!!!

I think if I were in the same boat I would be asking for a refund too. A friend of mine bought her engagement ring (can't remember which jewellers) and the diamonds fell out FOUR times. Each time they took them back to the shop and it was repaired and each time they fell out again. She ended up getting a full refund plus a voucher for theproblems (although she went elsewhere for the ring). I think once it has happened once, I would be constantly worried that it will happen again. Wouldn't want to be washing up and see my diamonds floating away down the plug hole!!:eek:I can't see them not giving you a refund. Good luck!

I would definitely ask for a refund, not want it repaired. If it was any other ring then yes, but your wedding ring? That is meant to last you a lifetime (unless the marriage doesnt lol) ? If you have lost confidence in the ring and the shop before the big day, then get your money back and go elsewhere. Ernest Jones will get over it....

Let me tell you what happened to my ring from Ernest Jones - an eternity ring, not a wdding ring, and it was full price - £399.

First one the stones fell out, took it back, said I didn't want it fixed I wanted a new one. They scoured the country to find one, there was only one ring left the same in the U.K. they got it sent up and got it resized for me.

Guess what? The stones feel out of that one too.

I got all my money back as I really wanted that style of ring but didn't want one where the stones kept falling out! I agreed it was probably the resizing that had contributed on the second one..

not the end of the story though - a week later IW as walking past, just out of curiosity I looked in the window, there was a ring identical to mine on sale for full price - now how could that be new when there were only two in the country?

I eneded up getting a very similar ring from Beaverbrooks, more money but it was 18ct instead of 9, hubby asked for a discount and got it, so it only ended up an extra £100 in the end. The customer service was great, you can pop in any time and get your ring cleaned for free, they do your wedding ring too even though it's not from them, of course it's so you have a look at their other jewellery while you wait, but I can resist!

Just had a look, it's doubled in price in the 3 years sinceI got it!

Our wedding rings were simple court wedding rings from Argos, only thirty something pounds each, it gets put in handbags, on keyrings, left on shelves (I'm not allowed to wear it at work) and it's still fine. I chose a thicker heavyweight style because my hands aren't very slender.

i used to work for hsamuel (yes they are the same group as ernest jones) and i believe they will give you a refund, the item they have sold you is faulty, its not your fault so you should be able to get your money back on it.

    All sorted thank God!!

Went back and the girl was there who served us, plus the manageress who I used to go to school with (she recognised me straight away)!! They apologised and asked me if before they give me a refund would I like to look at the others.

I say No at first but then the manageress said that if I wanted to, I could pick something for £199 or more and have her discount off it which is 30%! So I could have picked a ring for £260 and got it for the same price, but there was nothing in that price range apart from 18ct or 9ct with diamonds. Deffo didn't want diamonds and I only want 9ct as my engagement ring is 9ct.

So I chose a plain band and was refunded the difference. Still not sure it's what I really want as it has to be ordered in as they don't have my size, but if that comes and I'm still not happy, I can just get a refund and go elsewhere.

I take it back to say I wouldn't buy there again, so I will edit my OP to say so, their customer service (for that store) was second to none.
