Well the funny thing is, on the way home in the car I said to Steve that I was scared that I might knock it in the future and a stone might come out and he told me not to be silly :rotfl: And exactly, if this hadn't happened tonight but did when we got married, there would have been naff all we could have done about it!

My OH got my engagement ring made in Birmingham. 3 months after giving it to me one diamond came out. The jewellers changed the setting and it's never happened again.
Our wedding rings have tension set diamonds in them. About 18 months after the wedding he was away a a mate's house and called me to say that his mate's dog had managed to flick the diamond out of his ring into a massive shagpile carpet. :rotfl: He found the diamond (it wasn't inside the dog, thank heaven) and i was going to call the jeweller the next day to sort out getting it fixed.
The following morning I was washing my hands before leaving for work and discovered that the diamond had fallen out of my wedding ring too .
I took a day off, went to Birmingham and they changed both settings so that it wouldn't happen again.
Shortly afterwards both rings had to be cut off my finger in hospital because I had a severe allergic reaction to them. The jeweller remade the rings in platinum rather than white gold because we hadn't realised white gold has nickel in it
(At least it's fair now as my OH's ring was always platinum
)
Maybe it's an omen...................... :rotfl:I just mentioned to OH now about going to the Jewellery quarter so we're gonna try Goldsmiths first, then if there is no joy there, we're gonna make a day out of it in Birmingham x
Despite all the niggles we've had, I keep going back to the same jeweller because of the way they fix problems. 7 years since my OH bought my engagement ring from them they remember us and give us brilliant service (free valuations, polishing, discounts on other items) - mind you, they have had several £k out of us.

Sounds like very poor quality control from the jeweller/manufacturer.
I got my engagement and wedding rings from a local family jewellers in my town. Very good customer service. My wedding ring is a plain band with a bevelled edge and my engagement ring does not have a claw holding it in but it is in what they call a 'rubover' setting so the stone is flat. I've dropped my ring on the floor a few times and its survived fine, never had the diamond fall out thank goodness. I wear my rings every day too. So far they've lasted very well for over a decade....
Hope you find something else that you like to replace the band with.0 -

Why did you do the confused thing to that part of my post?
We're not getting married until next October, so I can't see if anything happened to it on the day or after that, that E.J. would have refunded or exchanged it for me. Yes they could have helped and had it fixed, but I would have to pay for that. Also I would have been stuck if I'd wore it and lost a diamond somewhere withing realising.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Because I wasn't sure why things would suddenly change when you got married - I didn't notice that it was a year off
Make sure it's covered on your house insurance and you'll be okay if anything happens to it

My wedding ring has 3 diamonds in it and we got married 10 years ago - they're all still there!! I'd have been well miffed if mine had fallen out and I understand why you don't want a ring like that again!
Bit of advice re insurance - get your rings valued every couple of years x0 -
take it back say they just fell out and they should repair replace it0

I don't want a repair or it replacing, they can't guarantee it won't happen again and seeing as a wedding ring 'should' last the whole of you married years, I'm slightly peeved that it didn't even last 4 hours! :cool:Littlemadam83 wrote: »I'd soooooooo want my money back! Exactly, it's a good job it did happen really, imagine him getting the shakes on our wedding day and dropping it just as he's gonna put it on my finger, then realises 2 stones have fallen out......:rotfl::rotfl:Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
