We've got to take it back in the morning...

It's a plain gold band with 3 diamonds in it. Came home and put it on to show Steve and then passed it to him ~ he was looking at inside of the back of it to see how the stones were set.

He drops it on the coffee table and I joke and say "look what you done now, you've lost a diamond out of it!" and he goes green and says "2 diamonds have fallen out!"

They only bloody had! :eek::eek::eek:

We found the first diamond straight away but took us about half an hour to find the other. I've put them both in a little bag (those tiny ones you get a spare button in) and put that in the box.

I'm laughing because I'm so bloody shocked! (I gotta laugh really or I'll cry!)

It was £299 reduced to £199 and I only got it cos I'd been looking at them before and was chuffed with the discount on it because similar rings were £400+

It was from Ernest Jones.

We'll be able to get our money back won't we? I'm dreading it incase they say No!

  • Thats awful!! Definately shouldn't have fallen out like that!

I'd ask for my money back and go else where. If they tried to fob me off with a repair/replacement then I might get a bit stropy. Afterall they are your wedding rings so they should be able to last a lifetime and I wouldn't want to worry about it happening again.

If you don't get any joy in the shop then try head office.

Hope they sort it out for you though.

To be honest, I find Ernest Jones really helpful. Take it back and they will probably fall over themselves to make it alright for you. Its probably just a flaw with that particular ring not having had the gems set in properly. I have my engagment ring from there, for a few years now and its looks at good as new! Bought an watch as a surprise for OH, it wasn't cheap but not mega bucks either, but they were fab and said he could come back and swap it if he didn't like it, and they would not tell him the price but show him things in the same price range, so it he would still not know how much I'd spent.
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
  • Nightmare!! Can't believe they were such bad quality!! By law you are entitled to a full refund as they are not fit for purpose, and OMG thank goodness you dropped it at home! If you'd dropped it in a years time when you get married there is no way they would have refunded it them. Cannot belive how crap that ring is, the diamonds should NEVER fall out!

    Oh my gosh, thats dreadful

You should definitely get a refund, or replacement if you choose one. Its faulty and by law you are entitled to a full refund via your original method of payment.
And as you have all 3 diamonds to return there should be no argument over this. If you had lost one that might be a different matter though, as i bet they get people trying to pulla fast one!!

Thanks hun, we're gonna go to Goldsmiths where my engagement ring was from x

I don't want them to fix it I want the money back ~ do you think they would be OK with that or would they have a problem?

Don't get me wrong, the woman was really helpful, but that's what she's paid to do lol...she did say we had 30 days to change our minds, but I don't think she anticipated seeing us the next morning because it was faulty lol!

I just want a plain band now, I'd be too scared of having one with diamonds incase they came out again! It's not bad with my engagement ring as that diamond is held with a claw, but No, I'd be too scared to wear a diamond one now

Omg, I would expect something like that to happen with something from H.Samuel, but I though Ernest Jones was supposed to be better quality.

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

We live in Birmingham we wouldn't touch these shop with a barge pole, would go up the jewellery quarter.

They will be fine! Their customer service is really good. Funny enough would never go back to Goldsmiths cos I found them carp, stuck up and really snotty, but there you go: shows a shop is only as good as its staff!!

Well the funny thing is, on the way home in the car I said to Steve that I was scared that I might knock it in the future and a stone might come out and he told me not to be silly :rotfl: And exactly, if this hadn't happened tonight but did when we got married, there would have been naff all we could have done about it!

H Samuel and Ernest Jones are part of the same company I think!

I just mentioned to OH now about going to the Jewellery quarter so we're gonna try Goldsmiths first, then if there is no joy there, we're gonna make a day out of it in Birmingham x

I think with all shops, it depends on the store and the staff that work there.

We went to Goldsmiths in Liverpool and they were naff, didn't seem interested in serving us at all, but when OH went to the one in Wrexham for my engagement ring, they were falling over themselves to help him and me too when we both went back as I needed a different size.

I'll see what happens in the morning.....eek! x

I think Birmingham is a FAB idea, you can make the day of it, and when me and OH went to Hatton Gardens it was AMAZING seeing some of the £25,000 diamonds and stuff. I love looking at everything so you will have a great time!!
