Fraud investigation income support, advice appreciated

Just be honest, nothing more you can do on this one.
It will work to your advantage that you stopped the housing benefit claim surely?....because it shows you were not trying to obtain as much as possible from the system. Sadly, ignorance of the law is no excuse but you can be honest about your guilt and why you overlooked it.
If I was you I would start searching out figures for exactly what you have won and when to be completely open and pay back exactly what you do owe. If they see the previous figures as irrelevant then your honesty will improve their view of your situation. This will also ensure that nobody can report you for anything in future and deepen your hole!
Get to CAB and get some proper advice on how to proceed. The individuals asking ''this does not add up, what is this?'' will reflect what you will get at an interview anyway, so better to be prepared with honest answers to those questions.0 -
I would still be wanting to know exactly what the benefits people are investigating, surely you have a right to know what you're going to be faced with at an interview?
What happens if you just don't turn up to these "interviews"?
I don't get benefits so I haven't got much knowledge about these things. I would still have thought you have a right to know what they want to see you about?Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -

It said in relation to income support and them believing a criminal offence had taken place in relation to undeclared capital.
Also it said i had the right not to turn up but they would still investigate the matter without my side of the story.0 -
Well I would be phoning them to ask what criminal offence and what evidence they have relating to this exactly.
I would probably go to the interview just to see what they say, if I didn't want to say anything at that time then I would keep quiet.
Once I had their facts in front of me, I would ask for copies also, I would then seek the appropriate help.
This is just me because I don't trust anything to do with the Government lol.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -

I'm on a pension + pension credit. When I do any temporary work and earn even £38.15 per week I have to notify DWP immediately and lose (for about 15 weeks it seems!) £7.20 per week.0 -

Thanks Older
Yes I have read the thread but how does OP know that is what they are investigating him for?
I would be very cautious about doing their job for them and handing any further info to them on a plate, but that's just me.
For all the OP knows someone might have grassed him up and they're hoping he'll cave in and give them all the facts when in reality they haven't got anything on him.
Who knows, it's a funny old world. They might just be fishing, but until OP has all the facts then how can he make a proper judgement?Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000
