Faulty Ford Focus

The first dealer (I was away from home at the time) replaced the accelerator pedal (it's an electronic "drive by wire" system that doesn't use a cable). Eventually the fault was traced to a simple loose earth wire under the driver's side carpet.
Worth mentioning to them tomorrow to check all earths. Heard some issues with MAF on focus's as well.0 -

Air flow meter/MAF. That was my problem tho mine never cut out, just ran badly! I doubt that this would cause cutting out problems tho.
Let us know how you get on.Genie

Just an update - there isn't one!!!
Dealership has maintained its shoddy approach to customer service by giving us no update on car. (promised they would update daily).
My car, (bought from different dealer and had a couple of issues post sale) has been sorted without any hassle, in fact I would say their service has been exceptionally good.
I might start a new thread asking for peoples recommendations (nice to be positive for a change) on local dealers / garages in their own area to give some help to those looking for another car. We all know what a minefield the used car market can be!
Will keep you posted on the outcome with the Focus.0 -

Try calling David on 01268 782286 - he's an independent Ford specialist - he may be able to point you in the right direction.0 -

Much appreciated, I am waiting to hear from dealer (wont hold my breath tho) and will probably give him a call when I have the latest info.
Thanks again!
I work near David (or Dave as we call him..
) - obviously he is not a dealership and can't carry out warranty work, but he may be able to point you in the right direction. He is ex Ford tech gone independent. If you intend to contact him, let me know and I will fill him in - or get him to read this thread! Which would be a lot easier..

Thanks again, as usual your post is polite and helpful
Still waiting for latest from Ford (glad I didn't hold my breath as I'd be a bit blue by now). Will keep you posted.0 -

I had the same problem on a Focus- cut out on me in the outside lane of the motorway! It was the camshaft sensor, cheap to replace and no problems since.0

It could well be - amazing that the dealership has no idea.... And I think they should be the ones sorting it out and footing the bill as it is still under warranty!
Any news OP? Have Ford Motor Co blown up that dealership yet???Genie
