Faulty Ford Focus

The problem with intermittent problems, is just that! Yes they can road test the car, but can't do much about a problem that isnt showing its self there and then that day.
Maybe the OP should try another Ford garage.0 -
Local dealerships near me had my car for weeks and weeks over two years out of the first three years of its 'life' and couldn't sort it. Ford guy found the fault in under five minutes........... if I only knew back then what I know now..harveybobbles wrote: »The problem with intermittent problems, is just that! And yes, it was an 'intermittent' fault, and it was also an 'under warranty fault' - and most of the time they can't be ar5ed to spend time on finding out the problem - warranty work doesn't pay well in alot of dealerships. Genie

Thanks for the comments.
Being an electronics engineer I do understand how much a pain intermittent faults are. I have to take a hit on kit thats worth thousands sometimes which dont sit well with my boss!!
However, I still have a prob with my wife and kids being in a car that cuts out without warning and hasn't been fixed.
The other big problem was their couldn't care less attitude right from the word go, they tried to make her feel guilty!
|Anyway, I'm prepared to give them a reasonable chance and will then push Ford UK for a tech to get involved.
Still want to know how long would be deemed reasonable and then what to do next as not prepared to sit on 10K car that she can't use.
Here's hoping!0 -
Does the car just re start with the key then straight away?0

hi mate at the garage i work at we had a focus cut out and found it was to a broke valve cant remeber what it was called on a aprentership but it had wax in it and a spring when the engine heated up it it ment to expand but if there fault they dont and cut out the engine also check the fuel line the fuel filter and the air filter and air filter pipes if the air filter pipe is blocked which happens easily it stops the engine breathing so cuts out0

Yes. straight away. That's what makes it so awkward as I'm assuming the fault stops the engine then clears itself.Does the car just re start with the key then straight away?
It's going to be a pig for them to find, just wish their attitude had been better. When she took car in they seemed to take the attitude ' Oh its a woman, so fob her off'0 -

I agree that they should have the info they need (its not like its a small independent garage, no disrespect to smaller garages intended).
I bought my car recently from a smaller independent and had a couple of minor faults which he has seen to swiftly and with courtesy.
Not sure OH will be as unkind to the loan car as I would be!!0 -

I work for a small independent (not Ford specialists) but we know a Ford tech guy and he was the one who found my problem within 5 minutes. He goes round the dealerships troubleshooting so to speak. I still have absolutely no idea why the dealerships didn't call on him or someone to sort out my car. I had two years of hassle..
And as I am female, they gave me the impression that they thought I was being neurotic....
Whereabouts are you in the UK, roughly?Genie
