nirelandguy, view your job for what it is...a means to an end.

Go to college and do a night course to improve your lot and move on-wards and up-wards. Set yourself a goal, focus on achieving it and make plans for your future.

One of life's greatest misconceptions is a better job will come along tomorrow...they don't, you need to be pro-active and make them happen.

Best idea is to take any job just to get some income, then plan your escape fast before you forget what life was like before.

I left a job in a chicken factory once, I was an engineer and the morale of everyone that worked there was getting to me, so apathetic so...words fail me, I mean we are dealing with animals and food for humans here, you expect high standards, you expect professionalism but you would think it meant nothing...luckily I could still afford to just leave.

I think the OP has a valid point, get out before it gets to you!

  • what a waste of a life. doing something you hate each day instead of looking to do something you actually enjoy and get personal satisfaction and achievement from.

"I think a day at a work is a day wasted." so why are you still doing that job and hating it?

Maybe to support people like yourself, who are perfectly able to work but choose a lifestyle of living on benefits instead.

Dave - for someone without a job or any intention of getting one, you spend an awful lot of time on the Employment board. Most people aren't able to live like you do. In the real world, people endure the same boring job day in day out for years, at the cost of their personal satisfaction, because they have to support their family, pay the bills and put food on the table. I find your above comments extremely crass under the circumstances.

I had to leave my job because of how ill it made me. I had an accident, then when I went back 3 months later I wasn't trusted to do a job I had done for two years. I went to flexi, then left.

I had a breakdown and am still not recovered fully enough to work, I can barely manage uni without a panic attack.

OP, don't stay in a job that makes you sick. Let someone know how you're feeling (outside work, you have a GP for a reason, they can help too) If you're put on the sick, you may be on less money for now, but you can work at the problem without it killing you

very good post and useful advice, a GP should always be your first port of call. sorry to read how ill that job made you feel :(

  • It's sad that have a job keep you just barely over broke.....Really start planning.... forward a little each day--especially if you have a full-time job outside of your dream field.

Psych thinks its the trigger for my problems and BPD kicking off. Two and a half years later and I can't go shopping without going weirdo at people

ETA: DD, I definitely agree on this one. Right now, I'm doing a degree in Film and TV, which is the field I ultimately want to work in, in any capacity. I'd be happy recording kiddies programmes
