  • chunk has just gone for £20 on ebay when it is in stock at wilkos. maybe worth buying up a few?
    just bagged 11

Hi, I know I'm fairly new and you have obviously been on this site a lot longer than me, but I have to say I was appalled at these 2 comments. Most of the people on here are parents or relatives of young children who are desperately trying to get hold of this stock in order to make Christmas special for their little ones.
While I apologise if I am incorrect but these comments you have made suggest you are viewing this thread as a way of earning some money - trying to buy 11 hamsters because they sold for a lot on ebay.
That completely goes against the whole nature of this thread as far as I am concerned.
It is people like this who are causing stock shortages, by buying lots of stock specifically for the purposes of reselling.

You really need to take each one of these on a case by case basis. I mean how do you know that this guy, or somebody on ebay, hasn't just been made redundant and are trying to raise money for their families Christmas!! The truth is we don't.

Originally I was disgusted by the greed of people deliberately buying more than they need with the sole purpose of selling on ebay but I now accept that because of the huge rise in costs of accessories and hamsters that people are feeling justified in selling extra items they have just so that they can then afford to buy the other go go items that they haven't got which are now being sold at exhorbitant prices.

However, I still feel good that there are many people who are helping each other out in private.;)
Went to the paper shop - it had blown away.

Too right - give everyone else a chance!! - the greed of some people, at least certain websites only let you buy one per person!!
  • I'm off to bed.....

Haven't heard from my Ebay seller yet so fingers crossed the sale goes ahead! :) On another note, just checked today's order from JL and it has already been dispatched!!!!! :j So at least I know I've got one hammie and if it arrives before I hear from ebay person, if it is a duplicate (two Chunks) then it won't be so bad if ebay person cancels!!!!

    Sweet Hamster dreams everyone! :)

Lizdav - thanks! Just wondered if you know if this order includes wheels, which seem to have replaced the ball as the hamster holy grail...?

    No way Jose.

Wheel is part of the Addon Playsets (Wheel, Car and the Slide) ... they haven't had any UK imports in AGES ... and there is no further delivery of those expected this side of Christmas.

If anyone is holding a backorder from you on these, then my information says that it will be 2010 before those orders will come in.

It looks ever likely that these can only be sourced at market prices by resellers on eBay, Amazon or Play.

The only consignments expected now are hamsters (over next week and then distribution to store time) and then beds and carriers on 18 Dec.

I have to say that given Characters announcement not to list their current stock, it does also make it somewhat uncertain about the accessories being available for Christmas delivery.
  • Maybe some of the sick vultures capitilising on the situation will get their come uppance in future.

Imagine they need an organ transplant some day, but find themselves having to suffer waiting for NHS support because similar greed has put the cost of private treatment beyond their reach.

Let them have their day, chances are they will have excess stock closer to Christmas they will then struggle to sell and end up witih thier cheese in the wind.

  • 'bagged 11 hamsters', maybe they are the UK's equivalent of octomum.
