Although my boy said he would put his hammy into the rabbit's furry little house so they could be best friends I have to say the beds look really cute!
They LOOK cute on the pics, but to be honest, I think they are a bit of a rip off at a fiver! Anyone paying more than that may be disappointed lol I have a bed and a carrier from my swaps for my daughters hammies. If it was up to me, I would stick to the ones I made for her, but I know her best friend who she plays with a lot has a bed and a carrier, so I know as 4 year olds DO, she is gonna say "I want one" if she doesn't get one with her hammies. She is only getting 2 hammies, so 1 bed and 1 carrier is fine. They will do shifts! LOL
I intend after Christmas sitting and making some accessories bed/carrier things clothes even (like on ebay!) for the hammies with my daughter. she loves doing that kind of stuff!:xmastree:0 -
Hi
For anyone who is interested here is a basic break down of fees involved with ebay for non business users:
BIN insertion fee: £0.40 Auction with £0.99 start = free
Final value fee up to £49.99 = 9.9% Final value fee = 10%
(pay extra for upgrades i.e. more photos etc.)
paypal fees = 3.4% + £0.20
As an example
List Chunk - 7 day auction starting at 99p FREE
(no upgrades, no reserve, no BIN)
Chunk sells for £20.00 10% ebay final value fee = £2.00
Postage is £2.00
Payment by paypal for £22.00 (inc p&p) 3.4% + 20p = £0.95
Total fee = £2.95
or
List Chunk - BUT IT NOW £20.00 imnsertion fee = £0.40
Chunk sells for £20.00 9.9% final value fee = £1.98
Postage is £2.00
Payment by paypal for £22.00 (inc p&p) 3.4% + 20p = £0.95
Total fees = £3.33
BTW this is just an example, I do not endorse or have profited from selling hamsters!!)
The hammies seem to sell roughly £20. Taking the postage price on the auction as the exact postage cost your looking at about £6 profit if you bought from Hooray for example (£10.99)
Then there is your time spent listing, packaging, going to Post office etc, Ink for printer and so on.
Realistically you could make £4.00 per hammy for a whole lot of effort.
Why bother? Even if you nabbed 20 hamsters your onlymaking £80 profit for hours of work and time and effort.
I would prefer to go work saturday AM and get paid the same for much less hassle..

 when you advocate cheating people out of money and defraud RM, you have a nerve to diss sellers who start auctions at 99p. in todays market, the majority of my items start at 99p, not to avoid listing fees, but in actual fact to attract buyers. MOST people who buy from ebay, are looking for bargains. If you are a good honest seller, people will add you to favourites and come back time and time again.
....all good sellers send via recorded delivery.......then there is no scope for defrauding SELLERS (they refund not Rm,RM refund if the seller is lucky by way of postage stamps most of the time)so if one of your items sold at 99p you would honour it??if so thats good your an excellent seller....if not.....your listing at 99p to save fees..the sellers who do that and dont start at A PRICE THEY WILL HAPPILY ACCEPT are the ones im "dissing"<<<urgh i feel 10 using that word

I think this was discussed in a round about way the other day and, some may be able to add more to this, but I think there were 4 main issues identified by several posters contributing to the discussion (i wasnt one of them so don't have a go at me anyone): 1) by the time you pm people, the stock will have sold out anyway; 2) how do you select which people to pm and which not too, and by the time you've pm'd the last one, they'll have missed out anyway; 3) how would anyone know that someone they pm'd wasn't really buying to sell on or may be they would suddenly e mail all their mates; and 4) just because someone doesn't contribute doesn't mean they are any less entitled to buy something for their child than someone who does.
Ahh.. the Secret Hamster Clique!
Gawd that took an age to die down, everyone asking for the "secret phrase" and such like.. was quite funnyI even advocated a secret handshake and badge
It whiled away a Friday afternoon though:beer:

I agree it doesnt seem worth it but some of these sellers are listing huge numbers of identical items which means basically they prepare one listing, one stock picture etc so their profit margins are much improved than in your example. Just a thought.0 -

i dont think people took what you said to start with the right way- i understand what you were saying, just explaining you've been on the receiving end of bad buyers saying they havent received stuff when they have and getting a refund via the paypal dispute process. i've also been a victim of this in the past, i know how frustrating it is so i only send things via recorded delivery now both to protect myself and my buyers.July- coconut body shop body butter, pom bear football, mini johnsons lotion, Sally Hansen nail treatments0 -

Oh gosh, there must be some real great ways to make good money on ebay if you know what to buy and sell.
Personally we use it to sell xbox and wii games, dvds, cd's, toys and games that we never use anymore. The way the wife buys stuff, every year we have a lot to sell.
I guess the professional ebayers who run as a business selling 100 of Go Go stuff are making a tidty sum.
I can't imagine spending a whole weekend listing, then another weekend packaging and a whole lunch time posting hamsters for a measly £80."Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates man from the animals ...well except the weasel." - Homer J Simpson
