Well I made the transfers so will be interesting to see if I get my fivers!!
If my* experience is anything to go by you won't see them on your statement (or available balance) until Monday 2nd November, but the credit(s) will be backdated to Sunday 1st November on your statement.

    * Others have reported being 'paid' late, but always before the 10th as BigAndy says above.

When I applied on the phone they asked me if I wanted to recieve a text message if I do overdrawn. I can't remember seeing this on the online application but it sounds a good idea so if you want that facility you should contact them to arrange it.

They did not ask me this during the first application by phone but they did on the second so it seems that some of them miss this question out but I'd say it is pretty important to know asap so you can sort it if possible so the chaeges don't go up too much
    Thanx

It wont be long before abusers of the "FREE" £5 will see a BIG clampdown. and rightly so IMHO.

Why? The bank wrote the terms out and made its bed. It can and has changed them from November.

You seem disgruntled about it. I think this may on balance be the wrong site for you if that upsets you!

To be honest I suspect that the bank will be watching the £1000 in and out within 2/3 days. It could perhaps make a minimum balance (say £200) or enforce a D/D requirement, but it has to do it in such a way it doesn't affect ordinary customers. I actually spend on my account and even have D/Ds so will be hopefully unaffected!

It guaranteed to be during the first 10 days of the month, ....
This month I did not get mine until sometime after the 10th, but before the 16th. Previously it had always been within a few days like you.

Most of the freeloading £5 grabbers are NOT ordinary customers, like i stated you WILL see a major clampdown very, very SOON.

    ;)
...so we will then close our accounts and walk away with a smile (and our fivers) and look for the next "good offer"; though I fail to see why its abuse to take advantage of huge corporations, who, with all their resources, can't get their Ts andCs right - I would call it intelligent opportunism. :D
  • Thanks for the advice guys

I opened 3 accounts last week. Well i changed my existing account into a reward and opened another 2. Done over the phone, no questions etc etc. Went into the branch to sign the forms and the girl there recons that on the 6th of December you will be limited to 1 reward account

So i hope this isn't the case as i'll be a bit miffed.
  • i've had a current account with Halifax for a decade or more.

Think they used to call it the MAXIM account before they changed it into a standard current account....

Are these converting into the reward account at some stage ?

You have to change it yourself - quickest way is to do it over the phone http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/callback.asp

A & L have a £250 Faster Payment limit. Their customer service department is very vague as to correct limits. But I managed yesterday to send 6 x £250 to different accounts, something I was told I couldn't do.
Also the first time I set up payments, wanting them to go by FP, they were blocked by security and sent by BACS, I advise a small test transfer first.
    Good Luck

I've just sent £1001 to Halifax from Lloyds and £1 back - and it all happened faster than I could log between accounts! Therefore the £1000 that goes into Halifax for a bit of a holiday from earning 3.2% net in a Lloyds Vantage account would effectively be earning over 8% net with instant access. (In fact the money will move on elsewhere, so I shall really be using the Halifax account, but the maths is the same.) Scary!
