Just got my 66p deal, many thanks to the OP on this one0

just wondering if anyone can give me some pointers as to what not to and whats best to say to try and entice a better deal from Sky. We have the full package including sports, movies and usually have the premiership football package added on. Kids and hubby will kill me if I lose any of their precious viewing but on the other hand if there are some savings to be had I want to be in!! hehe
All suggestions gratefully accepted!0 -
we just had a call from someone claiming to be sky offering the full package for £2 more then what we're paying now.. but then he started to ask for bank details which i was told sky never asked for if they called you so kinda told him to call back later which of cause he never did..
same, sounded like an okay deal to us lol0 -

Do they use different call centres at different times of day ?
I'm going to cancel if they don't give a good deal.
At the moment, the only reason I've got it is that I don't want to miss "24"
Thanks
Sky use a customer call centre in Glasgow and India.
If you are looking for one of these deals as decibed in this forum you HAVE to say you want to cancel your subscription.
You will then be passed to the call centre in Scotland where you need to repeat the magic words. I want to cancel because......costs, no-one watching, cannot afford it this month etc.
You will then be offered a deal by call centre.
The offers change each week, sometimes one offer remains for a week or two. If you want the current 66p deal for family pack and sports world, you will need to say you want to keep the sports, or wish that you had the sports, but financially you cannot afford it.
The call centre staff only have so many deals to give away each week, it is limited.
The new deals start on a FRIDAY, so Thursdays are never good days to call as often all the deals are gone.
Cancellations Dept open 08.30 to 22.00 7 days a week.
Hope this info helps.0 -
I tried to get sky + cheaper than £89 but they wouldn't do it. I paid the £89 and had the multiroom done yesterday, I was told on the phone that you can record two channels and watch another but the fitter said if we tried this it won't work as you can only record one channel and watch another. Quite annoyed about this but can I actually ring them and do a cancellation to get it cheaper a month or does it not work with sky+ ?
any advice appreciated

Sky + you CAN record two channels at once but you can only watch either of those channels or something you have previously recorded. You cannot watch a third channel while recording another two.0 -
You should be able to record two separate channels and watch another pre-recorded programme, as Scrumshie said. Or alternatively, record 1 program and watch another "Live" programme with the ability to pause/rewind etc.
My story.......Last Friday (during monsoon season!!), my normal Sky was showing "No Signal" and I went through all of the tests with a support guy in India. In the end, he said I needed a call out, and that would be £60. I rang cancellations, and told them that this was the straw that broke the camels back and, not only was I not paying £60 for a fix, I was also moving to cable because I could get Sky+ type features for a lot less than £260 with no multiroom.
She immediately offered me either a free callout with a guaranteed fix and a 3 month warranty, or Sky+ with no multiroom for £49 fitted !! Guess which one I chose......
Sky+ fitted yesterday

I totally agree, though it's been more productive in the past to use the "I like sky and watch it a lot, but can't afford it at the moment" rather than the "I don't seem to watch it much" route.

Yes, whenever I've gone for a reduction in Sky, AOL etc etc I've always made a point of saying I love the service....but can't afford it AT THE MOMENT SO I'M AFRAID I'VE GOT TO CANCEL. It's best to give them an impression of temporary poverty, that way they will easily see the benefit of giving you a temporary reduced deal. It's all about physchology. I managed to get a full years free 24/7 surfing out of AOL back in the 56k days, by using this tactic. DO NOT simply say you don't watch it enough or you run the risk of giving them the option of asking you if you would like to reduce your package! Sky's philosophy is that it's cheaper to keep an existing good customer with sweeteners than recruit a new customer. All their deals are geared to ensuring you stay with them.I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

sky as a commercial business would rather you watch sky than not watch it. i can remember tha days when we first got sky when it first came out and there were no adverts at all. just pathetic music intervals. now they have a solid consumer base they are making more money on commercials and advertising meaning they can subsidise consumers more.
just one question i am really interested in sky + and just phoned up on their freefone number. i am on a family package if i were to have sky+ it were to be £99 +£20 per month because i dont have a premium package or £99 + £10 if i had a premium package. any advice? thanks0
