Jayne, just to say that I have the greatest admiration for you and young George.
I cannot begin to imagine what you have gone through and what lies ahead.
God bless both of you, and I am sure that Paul is very proud of you both.

Thanks, but as I said to my friend today, so many people are worse off. Some people get home to find their husband has packed his bags and left, leaving no money for bills and bringing up children.
I won't be rich, but my house is paid for, and there will be enough money. I also have the security of knowing that my husband would never have left us if he didn't have to as we meant the world to him.0 -

, came out quite well even if I do say so myself! I made stirfry with tofu for dinner as needed to use up fresh veg before I go away on sunday. Oh and also made up a salad for lunch at work tomorrow.x
Flutterbyuk25, your meals sound mouthwatering - just the sort of thing I like (am a tofu junkie). I can be available for dinner any time-am not that far away in Bristol...
Cranky, what can I say, hugs to you, thinking of you at this difficult

Good evening,
Thanks for all of your kind thoughts. Thanks to the os thing, I am still managing to feed my small son from the contents of the freezer. He had lamb stew and mashed potato tonight. I assume I will have to cook again at some point, but it's very useful just now.
My husband's body was returned home to us today, and is now in the funeral home in our small town. The RFA padre has been to see me today. He brought back some of Paul's personal effects, and he also brought a ships crest for George when he is older, and a bobble hat that Paul wanted to buy for him but never got a chance. One of the men off the ship went back and got it for us. We also have a selection of photos of the ships crew at the memorial service that was held on board the ship for Paul.
On Friday George is going to choose a Burmese kitten. They won't be ready until the week after his birthday in November, but he understands that. I thought it would do him good to have a little friend that he can whisper his secrets to as he is growing up. I explained to the cat breeder what had happened and she agrees with me that a Burmese will be an excellent companion for a busy 5 year old. I know it will be expensive, but as it's his dad's last present to him, I wanted to make it a good one.
Take care all of you, and thanks again
Jayne that is one very inspiring post. You are a wonderful Mum.xxxx

Thanks, but I'm not. I'm just an ordinary person getting by in the best way that I know.0 -

When you told us of your husbands death I said I sensed that you were a strong lady and would survive this terrible time. Now I know you will not only survive, but will flourish in time.
When my DH died suddenly, several years ago I likened our family to a table, with one leg missing and we vowed to reposition our table legs and make a solid 3 legged one. You and George will make your table into a beautifully solid pine bench style table!
I hope you feel better for having him near and find comfort in planning his funeral. My thoughts and prayers remain with you both. All the best.Murphy was an optimist!!!0 -
Just popped in to say hi and catch up on everyone's news.
Jayne, I'm glad you've got Paul home now, and hope you and your wee boy, and the rest of your family are all well. I'd like to add to the wee discussion you're having with Haribo if I may, by saying that, that's what makes you, and us women in general, wonderful mums. Because we DO get by.
Don't underplay or underestimate your strength, it's an important part of who you/we all are, and will be what gets you through. I hope you find comfort and strength in the things you have said about your husband to us, and also in the memories he's left behind.
Goodnight

But you're doing your best at it. That's my point. And having "chatted" to Morag in the past you and she are cut from the same strong cloth.
I was a rubbish Mum today and it was all Essex girl's fault. :pI gave the picnic to OH for his lunch and took the girls to Ikea for lunch.

Next time I'm planning on seeing JackieGlasgow.;) She just doesn't know it yet.:rotfl:0 -
Jayne, HJ, Morag & Jackie your last few posts have reduced me to tears! I feel proud to be part of this lovely little community! :A
This is what the forums should be about not what I have been reading on the bullying thread.
Jayne I've said it before but George is very lucky to have a special Mum like you! :A
Take care
Karen
