  • Steph I am sure you will get the Usborne bug, and love the books as much as we all do! My kids go into bookshops and look for Usborne books.

Just out of interest what is everyones favourite Usborne book?

My best seller is Illustrated Junior Dictionary of Maths as I sold 300 to one person but thats an anomaly!

That's Not my Lion is favourite baby book and my older children's favourite is Kiss of Death. In between that I go for most of the See Insides.

Great news, I've had one response from Facebook so far from a friend who's expecting her first baby. She said she'd have a party and invite her mom who's a childminder! Hopefully get some more responses soon, enough to join and become one of you all :D

From my first party I got a lead at a soft play centre which led to lots more bookings and from then it just spiralled. Many people will cover the £38 with their first party. £160 in orders would cover it.

    Good luck!

my favourite book is 1001 things to spot in fairyland, or pirate things to spot for boys, I always seem to sell those easily :)
    Bow Ties ARE cool

  • My best selling books are "Whats Happening to Me" boys & girls,
But my favourite book is Hide and Seek Bunnies!
I have 6 kids of various ages and they all have their personal favourites, thats not my bear, fame school, and see inside space to name just 3.

I've had no further responses from my facebook message, so how did you all go about generating business before you signed up? I'd like to check there are people who would use this service before investing into it.

EDIT: Ok so just emailed a woman I know who runs Rainbows and Brownies to see if her packs may be interested, and a secondary teacher friend of mine whose husband works in a primary school to see if they have Usborne at all. Not giving up just yet

  • Brownies like us to do their Book Lovers Badge with them, I incorporate it into a sponsored read and book fair too!

Ive just done a search and there are over 50 primary/infant schools near your area alone, obviously they wont all be interested in sponsored reads but it gives an idea for the potential for business for you. (summer/christmas fetes, book sales etc)

Unfortunately you wont know who will be your customers until you sign up and get going, those that are interested now may not be then etc. so try not to get too over worried about 'potential' and just do some research into your area/aims for your business,

  • Also when you hold your first party you secure 2 further bookings so the host gets more free books.
I always ask host to invite ppl, and ask them to bring a friend, then you get a wider circle of people.
