Technically, you can charge what you like for books you have in stock, but remember to cover the cost price, plus a profit for yourself.
TBH it's easier just to do the special offers as Usborne set them out - yes, customers pay the advertised price, but remember that they've got the convenience of you delivering them (free of charge if you choose to, as most of us do), your knowledge of the products, personal service etc.
PS - if you want VFR, get on and order it as it may go out of stock pretty quickly as it's just been launched.0 -
I'm in Norfolk & I have only come across 1 other seller so far when I have approached a few people about events. I really think it depends on whether you can put the time in to do the research. Think outside the box & keep persisting!!!Won: Tigger Door Bouncer, Yogabugs book, Travel highchair, DVD Player, Redbull Flugtag Tickets0

When we see the BOGOF offers we often do a 'half price' or "1/3 off" bargain box at fairs/stalls and people love an offer so will rumage. We have also sold the offers at full price to increase our profits. Hello everyone.
I started Usborne technically in Feb, but I haven't done that well. I was thinking of leaving but wanted to give it another shot. I haven't really put my name down for many fairs, as I know I don't have the stock I need to make it a success. I'm now thinking of contacting local schools but with the year end coming, is there any point?
My upline isn't a help. She contacted me when I started, and then nothing so I'd really appreciate your words of wisdom. I love the books, and so do my boys, and would love to make some money from them. :A0 -
Its a shame you've not had a great start,
I would definately contact the schools now, perhaps suggest a meeting so you can discuss things (readysteadyread)for the new year term in september ? Most schools will also be doing fetes and things at this time of year and thats a great foot in the door, you wont need a huge amount of stock as the catalogue is a great back up and if nothing else it will give you practice time for meeting people and discussing the books.
Have you had your starter party ? have you attended any baby groups ?
I found a good way to gain stock was from the baby groups as i got around £60 in orders and topping up the rest with my own books and taking the free books for myself, this worked out that i was only spending £30 for quite a bit of extra stock.
contact your upline with a quick email just explaining you need a bit of a boost and did they have any suggestions ! I would imagine you havent heard from them as they are not wanting to pester you, some people join usborne witht the intention of only doing the odd bit so your upline may not want to appear pushy

Toddler groups are brilliant to go to with a small amount of stock. They are great for getting party bookings and recruits from, and they don't cost anything to be there. I usually offer 10% in free books, which Usborne provide anyhow.
Have you asked all your friends to host parties for you? This is also a good way of meeting lots of different people who may have links into other groups and schools etc.
Definitely give your upline a call/email as that is what they are there for - to mentor you
Good luck!0 -
Hi. How much on
average do u make? Is it easy to achieve £100 per mth? I'm
happy to work really hard although I know I'll struggle approaching people due to confidence. I have a boy who is starting nursery soon but other than that don't have friends with kids. So it'll be pretty much all strangers I'll sell to. I joined up a while ago and just got my son loads of books as totally lost my nerve lol
I also want to mention I
never once heard from my upline and don't have her contact details. I think I'll cancel and rejoin with someone who can support me although not sure if that's an option for some people as I'll prob need quite a lot of support to begin with0 -
I would say it should be easy to make £100 a month. The nursery will be a great start for you to make friends and new customers. You could ask them to put leaflets in their bags and do a display there when the parents pick up or during a parents evening. You could also include some information about hosting parties and the benefits with all the free books.
If you decide to resign, you would have to wait 4 months before you join up again.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do!0
