These days I cannot get the shell of without it takign a 5mm+ layer of egg with it - that's a lot of egg to waste.
Am I cooking them wrong or something? The whole world is a circus - don't be the clown!0 -
Well thanks to you lot I am now craving an egg sandwich!0

actually woofles - on reflection - I had my last cats litter tray in dining room! as he had cat aids from the time i got him and never went upstairs (my other cat used to use the bathroom litter tray or the drain outside! hardly ever used dining room - but thats not the point! sorry hun - I dont know the dynamics of your house do I? i can quite understand you wouldnt use anything that had been on floor!!!
apologies
No need to apologise, as I say we probably all do things we know we shouldn't sometimes.
I hard boiled and egg today for my kedgeree and did the rolly thing and squashed it. I mean really squashed it, it peeled ok though.:rotfl:Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw
apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.0 -
gawd - dont we all - my daughter delights in reminding me of the first time i made pancakes. the first one ended up in dogs mouth - she saw it coming! the second on floor - and i quickly scooped it up before dog got it - my OH walked in kitchen just then and said oh wow pancakes and ate the floor one while me and daughter just looked at each other! shrugged and made some more! btw my floor was clean and OH was perfectly ok. he had cast iron stomach anyway - his mum was shocking about hygiene so we reckoned his resistance to bugs was high!0

actually before this thread gets derailed - i think i will post a new thread on hygiene!0

Hey Woofles, don’t feel too bad about the litter tray in the kitchen - you're not alone.
We have had an indoor cat for 11 years, and his litter tray has been in the kitchen for all that time.:rolleyes: Like Tandraig says, everybody’s house is different – I live in central London, and PigletPuss is an indoor cat, so our choice was hall (just inside front door – very welcoming!
), lounge...
, kitchen or our bedroom. The bathroom is too small to fit a litter tray into, and our kitchen is quite large, and one side of it has a sloping ceiling where the stairs go up (not in the kitchen itself, but it affects ceiling height, if you see what I mean!). The litter tray is right in the corner under the bottom of the staircase – nothing else would fit there and nothing else is close – the door is on one side and the other side is clear – the nearest kitchen appliance is the fridge/freezer on the far wall – about 9ft away. (Other people in flats our shape have got dining tables and chairs under the stairs but we chose to put our dining area at one end of the lounge). We change the litter tray at least every other day (but mostly every day) and clean the floor almost as often – but I still judge each thing that falls on the floor on an individual basis (if its rinse-able, I probably would
– my food prep area is about 12ft away from the litter tray, but it would depend on the food item – amount of it I have, cost of item, and type of food item...).
Eggs – getting back to the thread, sorry OP!– I tend to cool them first under cold water and then roll them to crack the shell as much as possible. I don’t tend to have many problems doing them this way...
Piglet
*wanders off fancying an egg mayo sarnie...yum, yum!!* :rotfl:0 -
We have hens and I write the date on every egg, it's much harder to peel a hard-boiled new one than one that's a week old or more. I save the little bantam eggs especially for hard-boiling!0
