Vodafone do these bundles. Which would give you plenty of data usage using your phone.

Thanks but too expensive for me! I can't justify spending that kind of money on top of home broadband cost. Will have to make do 500MB out and about and keep internet browsing for home or free wifi areas.

Looks like O2 are the best bet for internet usage then.

The satio is not really a SE phone. It's got Nokia symbian software on it so you'll be able to run Nokia/Symbian apps on it.

    Consider the N900.

Thanks but I want good camera and walkman functions and the apps side of things is new (& at the mo unknown) to me. I am only looking at this as the contracts that I have looked at are around the 30pm mark for walkman phones with the inclusive minutes and texts I want. I don't really like any of the other phones on offer - this is the closest to what I would use but need to get one quickly as my current one is increasingly unreliable.

I am not as young as I was () and don't fancy getting to grips with something totally unknown to me and don't want the stress of cashback claims so rules out a lot of deals. Have had cashback deals before but have read too much about the hassles people are getting into to want to try it again. :o (ok so I am a bit of a technology wuss! I am putting it down to the fast onset of old age!)

The T-Mobile contracts that I have been looking at for the HTC Hero include 3GB of data a month...

Not strictly true. Sony co-developed Symbian and it was only bought outright by Nokia in June 08. The Satio is an SE phone developed by SE using an OS that they had a big influence in developing.

They developed UIQ, with is a different version (now obselete) of symbian. But essentially it's still Nokia underneath, with some apps and skins to look like a Nokia phone.

Obviously the phone is developed by SE, but for arguments sake, I think it is essentially a Nokia (software-wise).

    Hi Everyone,

As it stands at the moment our data allowance is 500MB per month. As more data heavy handsets are released this limit will of course be reviewed.

To get an idea just how much 500MB gives you, checkout our Data calculator.

Anything else at all, please let me know.

Fro what i understand, and have read on the vodafone eforums, of vodafones limit is that it is a fair use. There for you can go over this 500mb limit but if you do it consistently buy a large amount they do have the option to charge you for going over this limit but they will contact you before hand and advise you that you are going over the limit alot and that they are going to start charging you. They will not just slap a huge bill on you without you having prior notice that it may happen

    Hi,

malky39 - You are correct, if you were to exceed the 500mb fair usage policy on a regular basis then we would contact you to discuss your usage. As Kirsty has already mentioned you can check out our Data Counter in the above post to give you a greater idea of how much usage you can get from 500mb.

    All the best

And this data usage... would that also apply to the TV package that you have to pay extra for? The Sky sports and news thingy? Because if so then that seems a tad sneaky to me... you pay extra for sky sports/news and if you actually USE it VF are likely to hit you with extra charges for going over 500mb on an UNLIMITED internet plan?

    Hi MrsTine

    I can understand your concern.

The data usage that is used for Mobile TV is not billed as part of your Mobile Internet pack.

The cost of the data transfer for this service is included with the subscription cost for the service.

It's the same principle for downloading content from Vodafone Live. If you were to download a song from Vodafone Live you would be charged for the cost of the song but not for the data transfer.

    All the best

I think Mobile Phone companies advertising "unlimited" internet/data and then under the cover of small print then saying "ohh but really it is 500MB, 1GB, 3G. Use any more and we will get a strop on" ought to be investigated by OFCOM and outlawed.

This goes for regular Broadband providers too.

It is either Unlimited. That is using zero to any amount without let or hinderance or it isn't.

It's nothing more than false advertisng in my book and highly deceitful.

I have an "Unlimited" 3GB limit on my new T-Mobile contract and if I go over it and they get funny and try and charge me or stop my usage they can cancel the whole deal as far as I am concerned. They should clearly advertise it as a 3GB limit not Unlimited.
