I think Mobile Phone companies advertising "unlimited" internet/data and then under the cover of small print then saying "ohh but really it is 500MB, 1GB, 3G. Use any more and we will get a strop on" ought to be investigated by OFCOM and outlawed.

This goes for regular Broadband providers too.

It is either Unlimited. That is using zero to any amount without let or hinderance or it isn't.

It's nothing more than false advertisng in my book and highly deceitful.

I agreee but the ASA doesn't. It has been investigated and they can use the term unlimited on adverts even though it's not as long as the unlimited amount is specified

    See http://asa.org.uk/Complaints-and-ASA-action/Adjudications/2009/12/Vodafone-Ltd/TF_ADJ_47835.aspx for an example

I think they are allowed to call it unlimited because whatever limit they have is not a cut off point. So if you occassionally go over the fair use policy amount they won't charge you. It's only if you're doing it regularly that they will expect you to move to another plan.

Personally I think it's ridiculous though.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
