LOOK FOR AN "HD 1008p with built in FREEVIEW + GUARANTEE"
I'm taking all the advice on here, thank you all, its very interesting reading...............
I've been looking for a while, (since our old 'Phillips' TV died aged 8, now we're watching a portable!!!) "FOR A "HD 1008p with built in Freeview" i check all sales daily, because the prices keep coming down. :wall:
The problem is which TV to buy? I'd like an 'Sony' they are meant to be the best, also with the most expensive price, (i can find a 40" in a 'sony' but just cannot find a 42" !) but is it because its well known to be the best on the market ?
So now i'm thinking 'panasonic' just gone up in my ratings, ha ha....
OR LG/samsung/toshiba/Sony, and there is "who owns which company", and do they have the same insides ?
'Toshiba' are also looking good, Argos and Tesco are very competitive, but is it they are buying the lowest economy TV's ?
Ive also been searching for a new TV cabinet, for DVD and Video players, but don't want the glass ones............found some on Tesco direct, there must be more "nice ones" about ?0 -
Hi all
I am looking at taking the plunge & finally entering the world of HD.
I have a couple of questions I hope you all will be able to help me with.
First do you all feel there will be better deals in the New Year sales ?
The thinking against this is I think VAT is due to go up & retailers have gotten smarter with there purchases.
Second question is I have narrowed my search to the following 1080p models
Panasonic TX L37G10
Sony KDL 40W5500
Both are Which best buys but any assistance or advice on alternatives would be appreciated.
Thanks0 -

I recently bought the Panasonic TX P42G10 plasma with Freesat built in.
it's the one they advertise with Nadal playing tennis on.
absolutely stunning picture quality - even from an aerial or normal Sky box. When you feed in the HD signal, it adds a whole new dimension. I've seen HD before but HD on this beauty is spectacular. It's true about the lack of motion blur, but what impresses me is the natural colours. People look real on the screen, if that makes sense. There's no falseness about how people look on the picture.
highly recommended.Signature removed by MSE Forum Team.0 -
Only if you ignore the Dire reflections you get with Plasmas glass fronts!,and to calll Samsung over Pannys LCDs is against all the revues ive seen, Which magazine etc.
Well i have a 37" LG LCD in one room and a 42" Samsung Plasma in another and i can say with 100% certainty, the Samsung has the better picture.
Also, it does not display the 'reflections' you bleat about.0 -

In this case, the sony 40W5500 wins hands down! The 37 inch version for the panasonic is not as great as the 42inch version and above.
You do know you can get the Panasonic 42G10 for £700, right?Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!
