if you can connect to the internet when cabled in but not otherwise sounds like you fixed the ADSL/connection to the outside world problem you had but not yet fixed the wireless...
Two options
one -just use the cable but turn off your router's wireless so all your neighbours don't get to use your bandwidth for free
two -start fiddling with your router's wireless settings -suggest at minimum you change your SSID (ideally hide it but can be more difficult to setup connecting to/finding)) and setup some form of security/password (WPA with AES better than WEP)0 -
Thanks Jasx
I dont really want to use it with a wire, when you say fiddle with it what should I do, sorry to sound thick.
Thanks for your help0 -
Could this be a problem it is showing local area connection as connected and also wireless network connected?
Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found.
Is what I get when I unplug the cable.
Also I keep getting a black box appear at the bottom of the screen saying resolving host0 -
Thanks Jasx

Plug the cable into the router and set the following in the setup screens you've been accessing so far:
Change the SSID to something other than NETGEAR (eg MyHouse)
look for wirelesss security settings and try to turn them 'on' for starters
select WPA if offered a choice of security/encryption types.
you will also be prompted to set a passsword
save the settings on your router and restart if needs be
Now go to your computer and go to 'show all wireless networks' refresh if needs be
you should now see a network with the name/SSID you set earlier
connect to this netowrk and it'll ask for a password
enter the password you set earlier (please get this bit right or you start getting odd problems)
unplug the cable, reboot the PC (not necessary but easier). you should now be connected to the wireless network and able to browse the internet0 -

All worked fine until I unplugged the cable and it wont connect to the wireless network0
