Hello brewerdave and maveli,
I have just sent you a PM about this.
Fionnuala“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of BT. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
Since this is going in circles I am posting the PMs I had with the BT Reps so that you can decide who is right or wrong.
Shane,
Did you conveniently ignored my the following two points I made ?
1.> BT advertise evening and weekend plan as "All you pay is £11.25 a month line rental if you pay by Direct Debit or monthly payment plan and opt for paper-free billing1." and an extra £2.75 and £1.25 for not paying by Direct debit and paper billing. So there is no question about discount here. The quote above is from BT site as it is advertised.
2.>
Also your representative Natasha stated on this forum that the formulae for pro-rating is £15.45 x 12 / 365 = £0.507. I am disputing this b'cos in my bill the formula used is (15.45 /30) * 7 which will cost me extra pennies.
Thanks

Thanks for the PM. I have checked the account and can see that you have been charged 7 days both for the Evening and Weekend plan and also the International Freedom. When it comes to the discount applied basically you are entitled to 12 credits throughout a 12 month billing period. There are 4 quarterly bills in a year and each quarterly bill will have 3 credits regardless of the number of days on the bill. All the days you are billed for are still within that 12 month period and the appropriate credits have been applied.
Cheers
Shane.

2.> If I logon to my BT account it shows monthly charge as £ 16.14 (£11.25 + International freedom). Again no mention of discounts.
So the fair way to pro-rate for 7 days is by using £11.25.

I don't expect anything favourable from BT on this unfair charges as I think all my points were faced a brickwall. But if you think your customers should be charged fairly then take some action.

This extra days rental would be excluding any credits and would be at the full price of the package. I do need to look into your account to see the exact charges and dates the rental is for on the bill. Please can you reply to me via this PM or by sending an email to btcare@bt.com with your account details. Once I have obtained this I will be able to view your account and confirmed the exact charges.

I too got my bill with the extra 7 days charged at 15.45 instead of 11.25. Few pennies frommy pocket, but millions to BT. What a rip off ?0
