    Well the saga continues.

I contacted the BT rep as requested and he was helpful but I'm assuming he was not on duty today because I got a call from a female at BT who told me that my line rental charge was being reduced to £12.50 a month (I pay by DD monthly) but I would only be entitled to Unlimited WEEKEND calls. I double checked that with her and she reiterated weekend only , not Unlimited Evening calls.
I've since checked on the website and they have an Unlimited Weekend and Evening package on a renewable 12 month contract for the same price.
What the *&^% is going on with BT?
Why was I not given the opportunity to go onto that contract? The person I spoke to never even mentioned that option to me.

Anyone got a carrier pigeon going spare??

    At last they understood it
I do not think the BT rep on here does understand, his last post merely talks about the special offers eg the free evening and weekend calls.
My point is where they are bringing the line rental date in line with the bill date and are charging a few extra days on the bill, in your case 7 and in my case 21.
I say again to BT rep why are these days being charged pro rata at the full rate of £12.50 rather than the paper free rate of £11.25, see my earlier post for details of my arithmetic.
PS maveli, what are you going to spend your 81p on, I have not approached them for my 83p as it could have an adverse affect on the share price.

    LOL
I was going to forget about the 81p. But the MSE BT Rep who called threatened me that they will take action if I don't pay the extra. So I thought of fighting till the end. It took a lot of my time explaining them how I think the pro-rating should be done. But as an ex-employee who was part of the team which maintained their billing system, I thought I will spent that time.

    Hi folks,

I just want to clarify regarding the paper free discount. Basically you will receive a discount of £1.25 per month/quarter per billing period. If you have been billed any extra days as notbritishgas has mentioned and have not received the paper free discount on that bill then this will then be applied to your next monthly or quarterly bill.

If this has not happened on your next bill please drop me a PM and I will be happy to investigate this for you.

    Cheers

Thanks for reply. I did receive the paperfree discount, but only one quarters worth ie £3.75. The discount for the extra 21 days rental charged was not there. I do not share your confidence that it will appear on the next bill, when it could have appeared on this bill. Perhaps your answer relies on the fact that in 3 months time we will have forgotten about it. I suspect this is a software problem that BT did not envisage when aligning the dates on the bill.
However if say 1 million customers have been deprived of 83p like I have that is a lot of money BT has made.

    Notbritishgas,

I used the example of the Evening & Weekend special offer credit as this is what many other users had posted prior. However the principle is the same. The paper free discount is given for full months and not individual days as are all credits given by BT. If you check your bill which does not show your additional 21 days you will see that you were given three credits of £1.25 and your next bill will also include the three credits of £1.25. As BT had already given you the credits you were charged correctly for the 21 days. If you want to send me an email to btcare@bt.com with the bill details I will be happy to reply with an answer specific to your bill.

My thread appears to have gone off track a bit sorting out everyone else's issues.

Would one of the BT reps please reply to my post #22 about why I wasn't offered the 12 month renewable contract for line rental that includes unlimited evening as well as weekend calls.
    Thanks.

    Shane/Conan,
Are you guys contradicting each other ? In this case customer is charged for 3 months and 21 days. So in atleast one bill we should see discount for 3 months and 21 days. But what you are saying is it will be always 3 months discount ?
  • maveli, Did you get a refund after they charged the pro-rata days at the full non discounted price?

I would really like to get to the bottom of this and take legal advice but family matters have put a hold on that.

Evening & Weekend plan with paper billing should be £12.50 a month yes?
    Extra 16 days = £6.666666 not £7.97.
Still looking for the discounts they told me that are on this bill...as yet unfound..
