I think your OH is being grossly unfair. My husband is up at 5.30AM, drives to work (20 miles each way) and then does a 10 hour day (manual work, on his feet all day) with only one 45 minutes break. This means he is knackered in the evenings and I accept that.

I cook the evening meal while he relaxes, either watching TV or playing on the PS3, then we usually watch TV till 10pm when we both go to bed.

There has to be some give and take - I assume your OH does the cooking and cleaning as he has so much free time?

My DH leaves for work at 6am comes home at 4pm (manual work), gets dinner ready. I leave for work at 7.45am come home at 5pm to the cooked dinner. We sit down to eat together with DS. Then I wash up and DH dries up and DS puts away. Then any odd bits of housework are done tonight DS hoovered the kitchen (he's 13). DH has gone out to play snooker and will be back about 7.30. We'll sit down and "fiddle" on the computer or watch TV and go to bed about 10pm.

We save up most of the housework and do it at the weekend - mainly hoovering changing beds etc. We do a monthly shop and then I will batch cook and freeze in portions. DH tends to do most of the gardening jobs and I do most of the houseworky type jobs - although we share as much as possible.

I look after all our finances.

He does all the decorating/mending things when they break e.g. central heating etc.

Do you have a back garden you can cosy up and have a moonlit picnic? hot water bottles, layers and a feast on a blanket?

Does your DD have any games you can play? Keep an eye out for second hand games, twister is fun;)

Spa night? Whre you take a week each to pamper each other?

    Cocktail night?

Animated (or some kind ) of movie night? Or his pick of movie one night, yours the next ?

Cooking a yummy dinner and talking over music and candles?

I work full time, DH has retired, he does the cooking during the week, does errands etc. I suffer from insomnia and he falls asleep on the sofa most evenings but we don't fall out about it !

If you are working long hours and not getting much rest it's not surprising you are falling asleep in the late evenings.

if my dh fell out with me whenever i fall asleep then he would never talk to me!

in fact, my fail safe for when i cant sleep is to snuggle up and lay my head on his chest, give it 10 mins and im out like a light!!

  • My other half is always falling asleep on the couch. I turn the volume right up or if I am feeling generous make him a cup of tea. That usually works for about half an hour then it is back to square one.

My OH is a fan of falling asleep in her chair of an evening, if I wake her she growls, if I don’t she gets a stiff neck and growls, I did once try one of those squirty plant watering things to give her a light dusting with water but she didn’t see the funny side

ETA obviously that's a light dusting of water FROM A SAFE DISTANCE in case anyone else wants to try it

Thanks guys some good ideas there! last night we had a lovely meal then went to sainsburys to get some bits, home at about 9pm, watched some bits on tv for about an hour as i enjoyed what we were watching then fell asleep as didnt like dh's programme! went to bed at 10-45.

Steel i am not moaning about what i do it is dh! i honestly dont feel like i work as much as it sounds, a lot of it is driving or sat in the car waiting for school runs as im a childminder..i find my job very easy i think it's the early starts that do it..infact i know it is!! We are as a couple very happy just niggly at times but we have these times when dh is right he should have gone out i guess..im thinking id'e like him to poss empty the dishwasher or something at night so it's not there in the morning but then he says 'it's 9pm i'll do it tommorow' sometimes he does others he doesn't..whereas i cannot sit and leave a messy 'wherever' he can!

he's out tonight so i have decided to have a bath and sit in bed relaxing on my netbook!
    Thanks for the replys x
  • i dont have a partner but usually i get home about half 8, make some food and then either slob out in front of the tv or come on here

i live with a lodger and sky is in the front room, she usually puts some woman crap on as the tv usually isnt on unless i specifically want to watch something
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
