Getting out of my comfort zone

Have got to sort myself out. Woken at 4am last few days by rain pouring in through the flashing on the bay window, feeling really sorry for myself and then read this on a colleagues facebook profile which sort of put it all in perspective.

With the death of your friends father, and the statement from FB, it is not surprising you feel bleugh on top of everything else that you are doing.....
So......it is a good time to grab a pad of paper and some felt tip pens, and do some brainstorming.
First off, all the things that you have got going for you.
Secondly, all the skills you have that you can bring to the workplace.
Thirdly, what you need to do to change the way those skills come across in interview.
You will find that a lot of the things on each sheet overlap - and that is when you can really start to see that things are pretty alright!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I think you should feel pretty proud of yourself, you're a lesson for us all.
I'd've bought the shoes!I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Haven't updated this for a while -
bows head in shame. Been busy Padding and having a try at flylady stuff to sort house out. May find things to sell!
Friend is out of hospital for a while, goes back in on Monday. Her OH is a real star, they've only been married a few months, not sure that's what he signed up to.
Thanks for the advice folks, I didn't get the job, but apparently interviewed well, but the person appointed had slightly more relevant experience than me. Not much I can do about that really. Just not what they were looking for.
So, back on track, have made 2 Christmas cakes this morning. One for me, well visitors really, and one square one which I will make into 4 little square ones and give as presents to single friends.
Have sorted out enough small Christmas cards for the fayre on Saturday, if I can get 25p each for them, its a profit. Also made some calendars, need to decide what price for them.
Oh and got the leaking roof fixed yesterday, so can do my flylady stuff and blitz bedroom either later today or tomorrow.
Spending so far this week:-
Monday - 83p - cake to commiserate with myself about the job
Tuesday - £12 online on craft stuff, so will make a profit on it, chippy tea paid for by son, and £400 for gutters, loose slates and refelting of roof!
Today - so far NSD
Have taken a chilli out of freezer for tea, and will have the last of the chicken from Sunday in a pasta thingy for lunch.
Thinking about buying a chest freezer to take advantage of offers. Need to think about it.
Have found some bingo sites that work on my computer, so have been doing them. Thanks macgirl for the help.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Yesterday was a NSD so that was good.
Today have a letter in the post from bailiffs about a fine. Wrote to them about this back in May, have heard nothing since. Have been on to the court and they can't/won't help.
Have done the bingo and some surveys. Bit annoyed with Lightspeed, did a survey that was a 2 parter where they send you stuff, but it had a fill in field for ZIP code and wouldn't accept post code, so not even the original 110 points would have registered. Quite like those odd £1 paypal payments. Sent them an email, got a reply back it looks as if a lot of people had problems with it.
Off to do some shopping.

Somehow managed to spend a £8 but that was because beans were on offer.
Won on the bingo. Last time I won, I'd forgotten I had the tickets and wasn't watching, but this time I got really excited when I realised there were only 2 to go, then when it changed to red.....
I felt like dancing round the room!
Free money!
Got paid, so now have £105 and need to work out where it is going. Easily enough for the week.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

:janother £5 on bingo! Will start to add to sig when it hits bank account. Will also do a separate spreadsheet with it all on, so I can keep track, because of having to pay in to take out.
Today is cash spending day, so after Gas and leccy, petrol, will have £60 for shopping. Don't need any big stock ups, but will get some mince as no 'standby food' in freezer.
Also need to think about where we are eating C******** dinner. Can't say the word yet! If we go to sister as usual, what does she need me to bring?Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

So far today did food shopping, budgeted £35 and spent £42 - but bought birthday present for Mum - so technically in budget.
Then off to school for Christmas fayre. Had plenty of little cheap cards and tags that children could buy, as well as some posher ones for 2 or 3 quid each. Took some cut out card and some bits and bobs with me, and that actually brought people to my table, so then they felt obliged to buy. Made £72 after paying for the table, so will go to craft shop tomorrow and get some more lettering.
Just won another fiver on the bingo.
What I find really weird is that when I was working full time, I couldn't do the bingo as every penny in the bank was accounted for and couldn't spare the cash flow gap waiting to withdraw so never managed to have money for the deposit. Now, as I use cash for everything, there is spare money in the bank that I used for the first deposit and can wait for the cash flow thing.
Watching doomsday stuff about 2012, while rubber stamping and doing colouring in. So relaxing!!Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Bingo winnings are now in bank account and have won another tenner so far. May join the £10 a day challenge at this rate, didn't think it would work. When the 5 a day from BB stops may still use some of the money to carry on playing as its not my money. Maybe put £1 from each win to one side ready to deposit if I need it. Should only need to put a fiver in before start to get something back.
Flylady stuff done for today, can almost see the floor in back room now.
Shops aren't open for another 3 hours, don't know whether to go into town to craft shop or use bingo winnings and shop online.
Off to visit friend this afternoon, she goes into hospital tomorrow for some pretty horrible surgery. Have got her a card, not sure what else to take.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Have added bingo winnings to sig. Saw a few people win on BB this morning who I am fairly certain are MSE bods. Waiting for a few more to hit bank account. Using an old natwest account for this so I can keep track. So far:-
£22 BB
£20 BB
£20 BB
£20 TAB
£22 BB
but think that the overall is about £70 because of paying in £10 to get some out. When it all hits account will be clearer.
When updating sig, also updated loan and cc balance. don't know vanquis balance as has gone to dca and they don't send statements, so will check it on credit report next time.
Focus for most of last few years was on mortgage arrears etc. but making decent stamp on the rest now.
Total balance is now just over £4k, so will aim to get this below £4k by the end of this year.
Checking bank account seem to have spent an awful amount of money for someone not in work! But lots of it was getting repairs done on house, so necessary.
PPI insurance should kick in next month so will be £442 better off.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
