Isn't it odd,I am fair skinned, but the type of fair skin that somehow the sun avoids. I can be out in the sun in this country all day, and hardly get any sun at all, in fact have often been criticised for staying indoors in nice weather, when in fact I've been out all day.

And talking of outside all day........drumroll please..... for my DS. He rang me and asked where the secateurs where, as he was going to cut down the buddlea for me.
Well done, I thought; I walked into my hall tonight and thought, I don't remember it being this tidy.
He had cleared the hall, and hoovered it, then done the landing, his bedroom, the spare room and the yard. He had not only cut down the buddlea but cleared some other stuff that was too big for me (his old weights bench, that we used as a seat). So I can now use all the space. I am so pleased. He's also collapsed my little plastic greenhouse as it got on his nerves, but I need to rethink it all anyway.

Really tired as have been hospitaling and clinic stuff all day, - well mainly I've been sat around, but its still tiring.

If you are autumn, then you could be similar colours to me. Black and dark grey will drain what colour you have from your face and make you look ill.

So, top tip, only wear black when you can wear a top of a warm cheery colour (i.e. do not make black the most obvious colour near your face). I llike the jacket very much and it is a good colour! I also think that lippy / lip gloss is a good place to start, since it will add a little colour to your face (as features fade and lips thin as the years go by ... I never thought I would be glad to wear glasses, but when I came back from holiday once and wore lenses and no make up, everyone at work asked was I feeling OK).

If you feel that everyone sees you as 'top heavy', then more Gok, get a shape that makes you feel good. Round necks, fabrics that drape, no drop necklaces (like me) to tell people where your assets are!!! I think the idea is to balance, though I guess you may want to go for the slim and professional rather than the alternate 'buxom wench' effect at work (I'll get my coat ...)

How lovely to come home to that! Sounds like DS suddenly found a wakeup call all on his tod, very nice too :)

NorthernLas, some good tips there. When I worked in an office, I always used to wear earrings - I knew I was lazy when it came to putting makeup and whatnot on, and even jewellery felt like it was interfering, but with earrings, I could pop them in (pierced ears because of this very issue) and forget them :)

Can't really see the 'buxom wench' look going well with safety boots and high vis jacket :), so yes professional is more the look I'd be going for.

For the same reason, jewellry is not easy in a work environment. If I'm in the office, its fine, but out on site discreet rings etc. are about it.

Market day today, so will see what bargains can be had.

Not much in the way of bargains, but I did get to sit out in my yard and relax for half an hour. I had downloaded an audio book by Brian Cox, and so was listening to someone trying to explain e=mc2 (can't do a little 2); not my normal sort of thing, but with a view to expanding my horizons.

So carrying on from the tidying done by DS, I have taken net curtains down and washed windows today.

Not sure what the plans are for tomorrow, but there is Spanish GP to watch while I'm doing the ironing. Big problem with DS having a blitz, he found all sorts of washing lying round on his floor!

That sounds great! Just relaxing in your back, with young Brian burbling away - in spite of the washing machine in the background :rotfl:

Yep,surely they can tell whats clean? But if its been on the floor, maybe not...

More washing in machine, washing out on line. Normal cleaning done. Off shopping soon, have done my list and by my reckoning its around 30quid. See if I can get away with less.

Then off to Mum's, so some tidying in her house, strip her bed, put washing in her machine etc. back for lunch and watch GP while sorting out back room. I want to put my sewing machine up so that I'll use it more often, if its out I'll be more inclined to do stuff. And I think I'll sort my craft stuff out too, its all in wicker baskets which look very nice, but don't stack, so am going to get one of those plastic drawer unit thingies.

And I think I will definitely pension off my Imac, have taken most stuff off the hard drive, so will do one last check of that, and then put it in the loft out of the way. I actually only use it as a DVD player now.

    Money.
Next payday is probably a week Tuesday but it may be in early because of Bank Holiday, but will work on the basis that it will be 31st.

Bank - after DD's on Tuesday and Wednesday, - 5.40
If I can keep spends this weekend down, it should be ok. Will need petrol on Monday - 200 mile trip, roughly 20 litres of fuel, about 30 quid. I spent over 50 in online shop with Mr T but no idea how to get the fuel vouchers so will have to look at that too.

Sounds good to me, Gill - there's so much more space around you when you keep it tidy. I'm determined not to use the loft at all myself, but its definitely made storing things much more difficult. OTOH, I would never, ever choose to go up into any loft, so once anything was up there, I wouldn't go fetch it anyway :rotfl:

    Confused.com

I definitely replied to KC's post, but it seems to have disappeared, not sure why.

Anyway basically I was saying that things go into the loft as a sort of holding area while I put them on freecycle or whatever.

I am absolutely shattered, so heaven knows what Mum is like. She wanted to look for some material to re-upholster a chaise longue, so we went round fabric warehouse. No lifts, no wheelchair access, so she was on her feet for 2 hours, and I was trying to walk at her pace, which is very slow. We didn't find anything we liked either!
