Getting out of my comfort zone

You can use clothes that fit Ok already to use to make patterns too. I'm wanting to do that especially when favorites wearout.0

Happy bunny! I've just cooked a roast dinner in my halogen oven, only took 35 minutes rather than the hour and a half it would normally take. Meant all my timings were a bit out, but I'm still getting the hang of it.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I'm pleased the oven is working out for you
We have loads of mirrors in our house as I think they reflect light. They tend to be high off the floor tho so you only see your top half. When we first went to the gym and saw ourselves in mirrors where we could see our whole body we were shocked - and actually felt we might have been more motivated to do something about it earlier if we had more full length mirrors in the house... Just an alternative view.
I've met you Gill - and I think you were presentable when we met and I think we were probably similar weights at the time. I think fitted jackets, waterfall cardigans, and bootcut trousers tend to be the most flattering.... V necks are also good for rebalancing your body. All one colour is slimming. A darker top or bottom half can make that area look smaller, be careful of stripes - if you like them- use a vertical stripe like a scarf to distract from the width. I have found adding a scarf both flattering, outfit changing in a good way and feminine and slimming all in one... They start at around £3.50 - give it a go.... Long dangley beads preferably knotted below your bust tend to also give a slimmer look.... Use jewellery that is in proportion to your body too....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

            Thanks SH,
yes I'm really pleased with the halogen oven, just as well really as finding the part for the big oven is proving to be a bit difficult.
I have with me today a nice red jacket, in fact I think I wore it to visit you! Only problem is its short, and I'm not tall enough to carry off short jackets. But I do like it, its not too bright, but its not too dark either, more coral.
I do need to inject a bit more colour into my wardrobe, too many greys and blacks, so this jacket is quite good.
 I'll do some photos later.
Tonight is going to be a 'computer' night.
By the time I got back from zumba, had shower and something to eat, I just channel hopped. Not sure whats on telly tonight so will go and buy a paper in a bit.
sh - I avoid the mirrors in zumba too! Its in a dance studio with mirrors along one side, but I manage it!Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Very interesting clothes discussion definitely my new interest whereas before it was a quick grab in every colour of anything that vaguely fitted and then not go back to shops for as long as possible.
I realise now a decent mirror is essential to make sure that the clothes you are wearing are adjusted correctly I tended just to throw stuff on but now take more care and it does make a difference
Picked up on your cleavage point I can't show cleavage either 2 reasons I have rather a lot and not done for a vicar's wife :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: but I get the idea that you need deep v necks so now I wear a v neck t shirt whereas before I would always have worn round and then over that an extra deep v neck cardi so that you get the cleavage effect without the flesh
Like the idea of getting clothes for the job you want definitely going to try and do that today as I am going to buy a work suit first one I have bought since 1988:eek: so now I just need that interview
The only problem with the capsule wardrobe that I have found is that stuff even fairly expensive stuff soon goes shabby because it gets worn such a lot and I really need to freshen up my wardrobe already after only 6 months and of course we are going into warmer weather so that needs addressing too. I think the problem is I bought all my wardrobe at once because of my weightloss and I need to get into the habit of buying one new item regularly so that the shabby well worn items can be retired and there is always new stuff coming in but that means regular shopping which is still something that I find quite strange - I will see how I get on today
Definitely a good idea to have a look at the skills and qualifications you already have to see what you can use them for - go for it girl

Ooh, halogen oven ... where does one buy one of those gadgets and how much (only an idea 'cos I have a tiny kitchen and far too many gadgets already ) )
My five pennyworth on clothes ... clothes that fit and suit your body shape are best and if clevage doesn't do it for you (and never did while I was in IT (er not that I have anything worth looking at), then don't). In fact, my forays into v-necks and chicken filets always leave me thinking 'blimey are they mine' ... Also, colours that suit you and make you look well, plus a bit of lippy/lip gloss does wonders.
So, you need to look at yourself for this one, but what sort of complextion do you have (pale, freckled, olive) and how different is it to your natural hair colour and your eyes? I have freckled skin, dark brown eyes and brown hair with a touch of auburn. Since there is not a lot of contrast my colour palette is soft and autumn (old colur me beautiful terms here). So I look good in rich brown, charcoal grey with a touch of salmon pink or lime green to jazz things up. If you have blue eyes and pale skin, then you would have a big contrast and therefore can wear dark and bright colours successfully.
If you find like me that your wardrobe does not match your colours, instead of binning it all, get a few charity shop scarves/beads or look at sales in Mr T or Mr A or Sainsbugs. Wear them and see if people comment and notice how you feel?
Mirrors is dance studios are not good, they are invarably tilted one way or another (think house of fun mirrors) so it is either - do I have big shoulders? or does my bum look big? and neither are accurate!!!
I have found if you become less serious about the clothes malarky and make it an adventure, it becomes a bit more enjoyable. You may not like what you see, but it has carried you round all these years, which is something to appreciate if nothing else

It took me years to understand what chicken fillets were :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

            I *definitely* don't need chicken fillets:rotfl:
NL, I am basically 'mousey', now with a fair smattering of grey. Very pale skin, prone to freckles and blush really easily.
I was given my halogen oven by a friend who couldn't get on with it, but she got it in Argoos.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Actually, picking up on something NL wrote; I had my 'colours' done when a friend was in Amway, and I was 'Autumn', so my nice red jacket is the correct shade of red, but I should wear 'warm' tones (I think) -the scarf that is with this jacket was bought for me because it had all the right colours in it.
I think because I'm packing for work, I tend to pick things that can be mixed and matched, so that's why I stick to greys. I saw a halogen oven in Robert Dyas the other day half price, because its box was damaged - £45. Normally they're about £80.
Crossposted .... I like that collar, thats quite unusual. Understand what you're saying about the needing to do a mix and match with the minimum, too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
