Afternoon all.
Late one from me. Went swimming and then straight to A&EWhilst sitting on edge of pool I was trying to stop DD from walking off so got both her hands to give her a piggy back into the water. One hand slipped and her hand/wrist took the full weight and gave a horrible crunch _pale_
She cried and cried and she wouldn't use her hand. Headed straight off to A&E where we waited for 3 hours to be seen  She had a few x-rays and they couldn't see a break or anything but it is swollen and because of her age they have put a small cast on. Got to go back to the fracture clinic on Tues morn for a check up. Feel awful about it as I feel it's my faultIf I wasn't giving her the piggy she wouldn't have swung on her wrist.......
Anyway she's tucked up in bed now with some calpol having a nap.
So all the jobs I planned on doing today have gone out of the window.
Me and H are sniping at each other about money so all in all having a totally pants day
Chilli and rice for tea for me and the kids, H will have some chicken or something.
NPM - glad to hear you had a fab holiday.
Hester - good luck for tomorrow
Jayne - Hugs for you and George xxx
Pippa - love the knitted penguins
Anyway better shoot off. Might do a quick dash to Sainsbury's.
Have a good afternoon OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Thriftlady - glad you are feeling a bit better hon
Bitsy - don't feel so bad, my mother once slammed a car door on my fingers when I was quite young. Now THAT is one pain I never want to feel again..:rotfl::rotfl: I bet the thread tomorrow will be full of mums stories about accidently hurting their kids.. it kind of goes with the territory!
Hester - good luck for tomorrow hon.
Cranky - Sorry yesterday was so rough on you. xx
Have had my chilli chicken sandwiches and about to hit the garden as it's lovely and sunny again.
Glad people enjoyed the Stephen Gately song link.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Oh Bitsy, so sorry about poor DD
but try not to feel bad, it was just an accident (((HUGS)))
Cranky - (((HUGS))) to you both. Yesterday must have been so hard. I hadn't realised quite how soon Paul had been due home.
mioliere, jackieglasgow and tired mum - thanks for taking the trouble to tell me about raclettes - I don't want to buy one though - what I'm really trying to find out is what you do with the melted cheese - in other words, how you eat it? Do you just put it on a plate to accompany the other food you've grilled?
thriftlady - Glad you felt better after your cake - was it the choccy one from yesterday?Hope the headache and tummy cramp are better when you wake up tomorrow.
taplady - Well done on finding the mittens, I hope they do the trick for you. I often feel I wouldn't mind winter at all if I didn't spend most of it with freezing hands and feet  When we were in Cornwall last autumn DH bought me a sheepskin footmuff, but although it helped my feet, it wasn't very comfy to use as I had to have my ankles really close together to get both feet into it, and that made my knees hurt! I think it needed a bigger hole in the top
Pippa S. - Love your knitting, especially the penguins! Thanks for posting the pic.
Hester - Good luck for tomorrow x
Breakfast today was porridge, lunch was tomato soup with bread dunked into it, not sure about dinner - I'm trying to think of something I can cook that will be soft to eat. Apart from eggs, which i'm not in the mood for. Might just have to be pasta and sauce :rolleyes:0 -
Hi all,
Today started at 3.24am. I had DGD (7mths old) for 26hrs. She woke up whindging a bit, not like her at all. She is full of cold and had an iffy nappy so I remembered,,,, mmmmmhh teething?? I put some Homeopathic powders on her gums and HEY Presto, felt her first tooth break through. Bless.
I fed, bathed, changed and dressed her whilst a joint of YS pork slowly melted in the oven. I take the rind/fat off, after the pork is cooked, and put it on a rack over the roast pots, onions and parsnips, let the fat drip onto them, the crackling is like crisps, crunchy and not chewy and the veg tastes delish.
I marinated 8lb of beef in my HM curry marinade last night and that was cooked later.
WM is on it's last legs so searched for the one I wanted and thanks to MSE I saved £49.99p & 8% Quidco cashback. Love this site.
CRANKY, SMOKY, thinking of you both. Sadly you have similar situations to cope with. xx
Wow, PIPPA I'm impressed.0 -
Afternoon all,
Poor DS3 has been left to do all the heavy work moving DD4's stuff to her apartment, her ex is missing, as is DS2 and OH is just not up to lifting heavy things any more. Think that all the heavy stuff is now gone, anything else can be moved in cars, she is not going to sleep there until next weekend....Friday is apparently the luckiest day to move (don't ask me!!) and she still has to get bed linen for her 5 ft bed as we don't have any bed that big here so I can't help her out with fitted sheets.
Bitsy...hugs to you and dd.
Hester....good luck to-morrow, hope they realise how well off they are to have you!
Jayne and George....continuing prayers and kind thoughts...you are doing so well.
Pippa....lovely knitting
NPM...glad you had a good holiday, you all needed one.
Have made pizza dough for dinner, not sure what time anyone will want dinner, will leave for another hour or so, certain that dough will have risen to the heavens by then....so thick crust pizza to-day, hope nobody minds, I can only do so much! Will make a weetabix cake in a minute and maybe sponge pudding of some kind as oven will be on anyway.
Second lot of washing is still on line, may leave it overnight as I don't feel like having damp clothes draped everywhere to-night, we'll see.
Hugs to all in need or want whom I have not mentioned, congratulations to all who are celebrating and welcome to all newbies

Been up since 4 am working on my timeline for tomorrows meeting.
I can't see me getting much OS done as I'm far too stressed about tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

I have very few plans for today, other than eating some carbs and vegging out on sofa

Well turns out I've had a very productive afternoon actually!
I made a ciabatta pizza for lunch. Ciabatta was from freezer, along with the HM pizza topping. Just needed to defrost and add cheese.
I made celery soup for dinner tonight or tomorrow plus rest to freeze
I made a big bowl of salad to take to work for lunch next few days.
I portioned up and froze the leftover crumble from the one I made the other day.
I peeled, chopped and froze 12 cooking apples, and 6 carrots as they won't be used this week. I also froze some basil leaves as my basil plant is blooming!
I made a little bit of icing for the carrot cake muffins I made on Friday, and have frozen the 6 remaining muffins to eat another time.
Phew!!!! :rotfl:I'm well and truely knackered now. I'm gonna hit the sofa and chill for the rest of the day. I have to confess that I have put the dishwasher on because I could not face washing up too, and there was a mountain of it! It's first time I've used it since moving in though.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday

I am sitting down and have just had a Twink with chopped up cashew nuts in and it was lush!
Ivyleaf - I'll let you know how the mittens go. My feet suffer too but not to the extent of my hands, I wear thermal socks all winter but then its hard not to get chilblains:rolleyes:I've also bought a new winter hat - a woolly beanie type thing - I think it looks like a teacosy but DH swears it looks fine:D now all I need is a new scarf - I've got 3 but they are a bit itchy and DH has got a beautiful soft one from M&S so hopefully I'll get one of those.
Hester - good luck for tomorrow x
Bitsy - (((hugs))) to your poor DD - hope it soon mends x
I'm off up to visit Mum soon with my DS1, its her birthday Tuesday and my sister and I have bought her a laptop which DS1 is going to set up with a wireless modem. At the moment her and my sister fight over a PC:D
She will think she's the bees knees with a laptop.
we're having burgers for tea, DH didn't fancy a roast, I'm having a veggie burger and DS2 has asked for a reggae reggae chicken one.
thats it for now xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Missing yet again due to work, so not read properly for a couple of days.
Just wanted to say still thinking of Cranky and George. Also Bitsy, don't beat yourself up about it, these things happen. I managed to pull both my childrens arms out of their sockets when they were younger, had to go to A & E and was convinced Social Services would be on my doorstep!!
Work mega busy, but now off for 2 days, hooray!
School appeal tomorrow, please keep everything crossed for me.0 -
BITSY,
Mums feel guilty of anything and everything that happens to our babies the day they are born. It goes hand in hand, children = guilt.
Please don't blame yourself, it could happen to anyone of us. Hope all will be fine. (( to little one ))0
