Good morning,
Just a quick post to let you know that I'm still around. I have had a lot of cards and kind messages off friends, and one of my friends in particular and her family have been fantastic.
Yesterday was rubbish as it was the day that Paul should have been home after 4 months away. I took George for a haircut, then we went to buy a book because he was good having his hair cut. My friend gave us lunch and we all had a takeaway for dinner because nobody felt like cooking.
I've done all the ironing, and moved the new small freezer so that I can now open the dishwasher again. I don't use the dishwasher very often, but it's better to be able to get into it than not!
I'm also cursing myself for being so organised and making the christmas cake. I only ever made it for Paul when he was going to be home for christmas.
Thanks again for your support, and take care all of you0 -

Morning all,
Just polished off a bacon butty made by DH.Have woken with a slightly muzzy head but its my own fault as we went to the local beer festival last night with friends. Both DSs went too,and and quite a lot of their mates, most of whom we've known since being young,so had a good catch up.One of them is having a baby with his partner in a couple of months, when we were chatting about that he asked if most people found it scary,or was it just them. Bless...tried to reassure him,and I think he felt a bit better after. We have been very lucky with all their friends, all decent young men.
I've got beef in the slow cooker,we have my brother coming for tea-his wife is in Oz visiting relatives. She is a fantastic cook, trained in catering when younger so he's used to good stuffI will do a pudding too,not sure what yet,so may have to call for a few bits.
Got rid of all my ironing yesterday, but its not put away yet.I think we'll have a lazy afternoon.Have a good Sunday.
Hope you feel a bit better now Thriftlady.
Bitsy, well done with the inspection-they didnt do that when I used to childmind years ago,but after when I worked at school in the Reception class,I went through 3 inspections and it can be nerve-wracking knowing you're being watched, definately helps when they're friendly.
Cranky and George, hugs for you- yesterday must have been so difficult, knowing Paul should have been home.

Good afternoon chums ,
weather not too bad in North Kent at the moment, dry and fairly warmish.Dd came for coffee and 'bled' my radiators as I wanted to make sure all was ready for the winter.CH working o.k. and house is rather warm now !!. Thank you all for your good wishes for youngest DD on getting her job,she starts tomorrow, and I will do the school run for her in the morning ,her OH will do it in the afternoon.
Have been quite busy this morning ironing, baking ect and I'm just going to sit and finish off my blanket this afternoon. I knit for the Linus Project and make blankets for charity that get sent to all four corners of the world. A kind lady gave me 6 black plastic sack of wool last week and I thin I have enough to knit enough for a small country at the moment !
Sad news about Stephen Gately, so young, I feel for his family
Right thats me for today I'm off to watch a bit of catch-up t.v. and knit for a little while.Have a good and peaceful Sunday folks <<hugs to those who are sad and lonely>>
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Just popped back on to say - Good Luck for tomorrow Hester, try not to worry we are all behind you & will be sending positive thoughts.
Cranky - so glad to hear that you have good friends supporting you.xx0 -
Feeling much better now thanks everyone
really tired though.
Have made some chocolate and raspberry muffins for the lunchboxes and will be dealing with the rabbit soon. Think I'll stew it with leeks, carrots, barley and cider and add some dumplings later.
Will make a pudding of some sort, chocolate fudge pudding seems called for but I'm snowed under with apples, quinces and blackberries so I think crumble will be more sensible - save the choc fudge for when the fruit has run out;)0 -
afternoon all!
not caught up with the thread yet, just got in from shopping. We've been to a carboot and I got a couple of nice cds - last choir standing and Julian Lloyd Webber plays Andrew Lloyd Webber. Then I bought another hoodie half price in the sale:o(19 now) and finally we went to an outdoor wear shop and I spent a fortune on a pair of mittens for winter(I have reynauds syndrome and its agony for my hands) I hope thi spair will help - I've tried all sortd of gloves. They were £35:eek: but very nice and snug, suitable for the arctic so it said.
OS - might do a bit of baking, need to make 2 lemon drizzle cakes and some twinks. Washing out on line.
We have also been offered a free tv:j ours makes everyone look like the incredible hulk:D(green) so we're picking it up in the morning from a friend at work whose son has bought a new one.
(((hugs))) to all the poorly ones and I hope you all have a lovely Sunday xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Cranky - it's great to know that you have a good network of friends for support at this difficult time. Yesterday must have been particularly hard. I think you're doing really well. (((Hugs))) to you and George.
