I'd be £1000 that the blacks on his pio are miles better than the led (I also have a pio). The samsung is also 4" smaller. Size does matter (which is what women say BEHIND our backs :D).

why spend 2399 on a tele in the first place you cna get a nice one for 399 and it would probably last longer

I'm inclined to agree but isn't it up to other people what they spend their money on?

Because a nice one wont do for me.

It was an extravagant purchase. But your comparing a holiday in the Caribbean to a holiday in wales (not anything wrong with wales) They are both holidays just one is better than the other
I dont just watch easties and coronation st I watch a lot of bluray films and having the extra quality makes a difference.

    You wont understand if
a:it doesn't really interest you (its just a telly)
B: You haven't lived with it for a while.

Its like audio tapes were good but cd's are sooo much better.

    LOL'd at the LED comment

You have obviously been sucked in with marketing blurb they are not LED they are LED backlit

I thought the Blacks on my Panasonic were good but after seeing the PIO i was gob smacked.

I know I'm late to this thread...but jeez... how ANYBODY can think a samsung LCD (don't buy into the LED balls) could even come CLOSE to deserving to be in the same conversation as a Pioneer is beyond me.

I mean, sure the samsung is thin, but it has the sound quality of a tin can, its response time is terrible (gaming input lag...ugh), the motionflow algorithm isn't that good either.

The colours are garish, rather than lifelike, it seriously lacks inputs (not even a headphone socket), its a !!!!!! to wall mount unless you want to go with their overpriced picture frame mounting solution.

Pioneer generally have excellent build quality, superb picture and are an amazing product. Saying a £399 tv would "probably last longer" is insanity. Sometimes tech goes wrong, that's just the way it is. I've seen far more cheap TVs come back as faulty than pioneer. In fact I've only ever seen one.

If you're after a new Pioneer, the Panasonic Z1 if you can find it is basically what Pio would have made for release last year. Panasonic bought it off them and put the panny badge on it.

It really is worth having a good TV if you use it a lot... I wonder how many people would say "why spend £4000 on a car when you can get a mobility scooter for £500? They get you from A to B...."
