Changing Name after Divorce

My hubby's ex did the same, despite his objections
Mine was all for it, probably because I was changing their name to mine, not someone else's. I was really keen we were seen to be the one family.
His second wife didn't change her name either (he has a really nice name - honest - it just wasn't mine!) so when the four of them go on holiday there are three surnames!0 -
My husband has finally decided after changing his mind numerous times that he wants a divorce. For the past month i have been working towards building myself up again, and i feel i want to change my surname back to my maiden name. My question is can i just change it back, ring different organizations and inform them or do i have to wait until we are divorced to do this, i know it may sound a silly question but i am so unsure how to go about this.0

I did so you can, you just need to change it by deedpoll - took a couple of days for the doc to come through via my solicitor and be witnessed and that was it. I think you can do the deedpoll online now.0

My maiden name is W........ then i have been married twice but i have ALWAYS used my maiden name so i don't think u have to change officially until THEY come to YOU as it were. I think you can just start saying, "My name is ..."
Of course i could well be wrong and could well have been illegal for the past 25 years!0 -
You no longer have to change your name by deed poll. I reverted to my maiden name and all that was needed was a photocopy of my birth cert and a covering letter for all utility companies, local authority (for council tax etc) and inland revenue. I just told the HR dept where i worked, they didn't want any proof. The only people I had a problem with was my then mobile phone co, they refused to change it at first, it took several phone calls til i spoke to a manager who knew what the 'rules' are.
This applies to any surname you choose, not just your maiden name.0 -
So in my case, I have had a surname at birth (which was my father's surname), then a married name (husband's name), then when I seperated and before I divorced I change my surname by deedpoll to my mother's maiden name. If I wanted to change it to any surname in the world I still could?LBM £18463.32 in debt 10th June 2008,£12470.99 in debt 10th June 2009.:jTime flies like an arrow.

Changing your name on marriage is just a convention so you need to take no formal action if you want to go back to using your own name.0
