If they are relevant to the accident then just give the details (and a statement) of the other car to the police and/or your insurance company not much more you can do.

If it is the same as England, it is an offence for the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash involving injury to another person, or, damage to another's property to leave the scene, or, report it to the police as soon as is practicable. If I remember correctly, the soon as practicable is within 24 hours even if there is a good reason not to go straight to the Police. Same requirement if hitting dog, goat, cattle, horse, a_ss (I don't know why it doesn't say donkey), pig, mule or sheep.

  • Leaving the scene of an accident without leaving details will normally earn you/them 6 points. Sometimes more.

I only found this out when i spotted a black mark on my cars door many years ago, Builders were working on the house next door & shouted down to me that he took the number of the car that did the damage.

Went down to the police station & reported the incident & gave them details. I dont think the policeman was in a good mood, Tried to tell me i had broken the law by not reporting the incident within 24 hours.
I explained how can i report something before i knew it had happened?

Anyway, got a letter a few months later they had prosecuted the driver 6 points & £400 fine.
Naughty man didnt tell his insurance of this either.

No it won't, Nigewic has it bang on. You must stop, nothing more. Hitting something, coming to a standstill and then driving off still counts as having stopped. Perfectly legal to report the detail to the police as he said.:T
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
