  • Hi skint/savingholmes

Had a good MSE weekend we had family visiting so stayed in gave OH neice £10 today to get a Xmas present which will save on postage.

I have also been helping OH to make a crystal bouquet for the bridesmaids the small ones start at £250 they are quite easy to do yourself we are practicing using cheap beads which OH already had in craft box. If it turns out ok she is going to buy the crystals off of eBay and fill out using cheaper materials approx £50 per bouquet. OH is good at making stuff so will hopefully save a little money and if everyones ocupied in helping we won't be tempted to go out and spend through boredom!!

  • Still not heard from toysrus, however it looks like my current employer is opening overtime again if they do it will only be a few weeks but every penny counts. All money left in account allocated now so totally skint.

Work are doing a fundraiser for Children in need and I was told I must bring in a number of food items on list and money for mufti and for buffet, when I said I could not afford it this year I had a few nasty comments and looks if only they knew what I owed!! And to justifiy I've always donated generously previously and will again when I have money to spare.

  • At the moment, it's more important to focus on your personal situation - charity begins at home and all that. So Mrs R thinks you did the right thing in being strong on the fundraiser. Keep it up!

  • Good on you, sometimes it's too easy to just agree and do it and that's how you end up being even more skint. You did the right thing and no doubt your DS will be doing something in school for Children In Need aswell so let that be your contribution.

  • We did some work for a different department to give them a hand it was a kind of thank you, luckily my team are multi trained so we get asked often to help other dept and more often than not get vouchers for it. Unfortunately I have a awful job and would love to change but in this climate I have to remember im lucky to have one at all.

  • Well done on the assessment, what exactly did you have to do? it amuses me these days as when I was younger and doing shop work it was a simple interview, they don't make it easy for people. I defitnatly agree about being lucky to have a stable job. I feel very fortunate as I love my job. What is it you do?

Excellent news about the bouquets post a picture when you have done them, I wanna see them :D
