People like you make me sick, your just a jobs worth, did you think that if not working for free you might have created another job for someone else? these post men graft hard and a lot of the time they are humping tons of junk mail.

If they are making good profits, why should they be greedy and try and make more? Why get rid of people and make less people do more work on worse terms.

Thats why unemployment is getting worse, the thing is with people on here, is they are all have great opinions when it comes to someone elses circumstances until it affects them.

Id like to see the manager come up to them and say heres your redundency, the man can do your job has well as his own, so seeya. Hope it dont happen but thats what will happen here.

Why dont they replace all employees with computers, surely it would make financial sense for the employer..

Hey, I've finally upset someone! Yippee....see I'm not all nicey nicey.

Sorry, but it is called a strong work ethic, it was what got me to the top of my particular sector of employment, it was what got me the good pay and it was what made me indespensible.

It was also something which saved an awful lot of stress for others who were maybe slightly slower, or had the more difficult files to work on, going completely doolally from stress, it was also something which allowed them to leave the office at a decent time with everyone else instead of still being sat there on their tod hours after everyone else left.

    It's called teamwork.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Lmao, I'm alright Jack!

Boy do you not know where I am coming from....I am far from alright Jack. Maybe you should stick around and then you would know far better that that is not the angle I am coming from.

you havent upset me, i just find it hard where i work i see people who go that extra mile for the firm and all the management do is come in and remove people, which puts pressure on the remaining employees.

You might think great, where i work the employers asked everyone to do salaray sacrafice for national insurance reasons, this would save the company 1500 pound a year for each employee, which totals 4.5 million pounds, this was fine but then in the following weeks they told us they was increasing pension contributions.

Maybe its only big firms that do it, but im always sceptical of people doing work for free, if it could keep someone in work, or create a job.

As for being indesposable ive seen that as well no one indesposable, ive seen the best workers at our place in tears when they have had to go.

Oh I was indespensible....they had to take on 6 people to cover my work when I left to go on maternity leave in one job because of the knowledge and the willingness to work that extra bit outside of my paid hours (extra hours which the year before had been paid as overtime but was no longer being paid as overtime due to cuts). The knowledge came from being willing to help everyone else out once my designated work was completed which meant I had the widest knowledge and the ability to cover for almost anyone in the office in times of illness or holiday.

I have always been a believer of only getting paid for the hours you work, finish early, get paid less, finish later, get paid more, finish on time, get paid what you are supposed to be paid, the only time I have broken this is for job progression and to give a good impression (some would call it a*se licking) to work extra for no pay..it certainly worked for me when I tripled my earnings in less than 18 months.

I have also been made redundant due to job cuts, it happens...no matter how good or bad a worker you are.

Yes, it is rather a me me stance but alongside that, I did all I could to help my fellow colleagues to have a life outside of the office instead of being stuck in one until gone 10 at night.

Maybe we're just bored of a debate about two institutions - the Royal Mail and the CWU - that noone really needs or cares about.

It might be fascinating to you with your vested interest in it. To others, it's a non-issue.
