So dishartened with e-bay......

Sorry for the rant guys but I am so razzed off with buyers just lately on e-bay. I have just sold a gorgeous set of bambino mio nappies which cost me over £230 when I bought them new. I have never used them but washed them quite a bit before hand as instructed by the manufacturer, and this was detailed in the listing to increase absorbancy and to soften the covers as they were really stiff. They were pristine and I wouldn't sell anything that I wouldn't use myself and I think iv'e got fairly high standards:confused:
This woman says that they are awful and she says - obviously used!!!
What do I do? Do I give her a full refund? I think I have accurately described the items. When I checked her feedback she has bought new bambino mio nappies in the past but they were new in the pack, they are obviously going to look different after being washed several times!
I have great feedback and lots of happy punters and whilst I want to make sure I don't get a neg, i don't want to be held to ransom by this woman who I feel is being very unreasonable. P.s e-bay is very strict on not allowing the sale of used nappies - if she reports this to e-bay, can they do anything.
Sorry to go on, just getting fed up of making next to nothing on great items and then getting hastle. Ive bought so many things that are not quite right - or very wrong but I just think- hey-ho, its the chance you take when you buy on this kind of set up.
Any views would be greatfully received.
xx

If I were you, I would ask her to send them back & refund her.
If she opens a paypal dispute,I`m prety sure she would win.
I can sort of understand the buyers concern, if they think they have been used.
  • The best answer would be, ask her to send them back in return you will give her a full refund, 90% of the time the buyer doesnt send them back tracked in which case they dont "have" to turn up ;) as paypal will ask them if they open a dispute to supply a tracking number.....
if she sends it tracked, wll shes obviously serious about what she thinks so just sell them again....

the worst ebay will do if your reported is 1st remove your listing (if the report seems truthful!) if the item has already been sold then what can happen is that ebay will send the buyer a message about the item that they have just purchased and ask them if theyre 'suspicious' or whatever about what theyve bought to clain theyre money back (and sometimes you may have already sent the item!).... if you get too many listings reported and removed it can effect your powerseller discount and status.... and so on.....

Why did you wash them if you didn't use them? Thats why the buyer thinks they are used. Ask them to return for a full refund. If they raise a Paypal dispute thats what will happen anyway.

I'm sorry but i think the buyer has a bit of a point although I agree that they should have read the listing better.

A washed item cannot be sold as new, it isn't new they might be unworn but they are used.

Like others have said just ask for them to be returned fully tracked and refund on safe arrival.

Im guessing its because real nappies need to be washed before use, which would have probably been done by a mum-to-be who is full of energy & anticipation.
By the time baby arrived said mum is was probably so shattered & couldnt contemplate the thought of using a real nappy & used disposables instead!

(Not that Ive been there or anything ;))

I would do as others have said & ask them to return for a refund. You could try selling them on Netmums, just be prepared to list a few times before you get a sale.

Not good advice; never, ever recommend something tantamount to fraud.
  • I agree with the others here, Ive been looking into reusable nappies for my baby due in a few weeks. I looked into them considerably but due to not having a tumble dryer, decided they were not right for me!
I completly appreciate the fact that you washed them all several times, as this is what you are supposed to do with these nappies before use, you saved someone a lot of hard work! Obviously this buyer either does not understand this fact (and did not read your listing properly).
Have you asked her why she believes them to be used? If its simply the fact that they have been washed, and she states this then just politley explain that this was detailed in the listing, and is what is supposed to be done etc etc
If she believes them to show signs of staining etc, then ask her to send them back for a refund.
I would ask her why she thinks they are used first though, as a potentially sticky situation may be easily resolved by just a bit of simple communication. HTH and good luck! :D

Whitewillow - have you looked into pocket nappies such as Bumgenius? No need to tumble dry - they dry on an airer overnight, the inserts take a little longer, but not much at all. Equally, if you wanted a nappy + wrap, Little Lamb are fab. I've used cloth on ds for nearly three years - he refuses to potty train grrrr - and only had a tumble dryer for the last 6 months, rarely use it for nappies.

To the OP - IMO you will have to refund and get them back. Ebay are *very* strict about cloth nappies (used underwear *sigh*) but there are plenty of other places to sell them. Google Cloth Nappy Tree, UK Parents Lounge, Used Nappy Company (auction style place with loads of nappies on)

eta: I sell a lot of ds' outgrown nappies and stuff, and even if he has never worn them, but I have prewashed them, they are always marked as used. "Excellent condition, prewashed 3 x" or whatever.
