the sellers postage charges were in full view for you to see,
you are not only paying for the postage, but the packaging, time to pack the items, the time for the seller to take it to the post office, wait in the never ending que etc
and which ahs allready been said, if you had bought the cds from Amazon you would have been charged£2.95?
when i buy anything from ebay, i look at the overall price i will end up paying,
i have also paid slightly over the odds for things i could buy in a shop, in town, but by the time i add my petrol cost, and parking cost, its cheaper to buy at a higher price from ebay/online
If or when you start selling on ebay, you will find out the 'hidden' costs that have been mentioned....
How on earth can you say that I am nit picking? have I not accepted every ones explanation of the pricing of ebay:rolleyes:0 -
Sorry if this has been asked before, but this is my first time posting here.
I am fairly new to ebay, only ever having bought anything. I ordered a CD and then looked through their shop and ordered another 3 CDs, the first postage being £1.50 and 50p.for any other purchases Making £3 postage for the 4 CD sent in sleeves so very light in weight.
They arrived in a jiffy bag with a 2nd class stamp, so I do feel a bit cheated, is this price the norm? as I am not sure what feedback to leave regarding the cost of postage
Thanks for any replies
I think buyers tend to forget the length of time that sellers take in wrapping, driving, standing in queues at the post office. Not having a go in anyway but on Saturday I had to go to the Post Office for just 1 item. 30 minute queue. 1 mile drive in Car. Profit £3.00
At Christmas I can spend half of my working day or more wrapping and queuing

So why bother selling then if it is so much trouble:rolleyes:0 -

Because sometimes I sell a number of items in one day, which add upto a nice sum. But as for moaning about having to pay £1.50 for postage. I take it you've never ordered from other companies online before. I could name dozens who start at £4.95 minimum.
If you don't want to pay postage. Either buy from the likes of Play, or take the bus into town and pay £1.50 on bus fare. Sellers are there to make a profit!!!Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

WHERE have you seen me moan??? PLEASE Quote!!all I asked was a perfectly reasonable question civilly. and yes I have bought on line before, I am house bound and do a lot of shopping on line,
Surely if you make a nice sum then it has to be worth the effort!!!! like standing in a post office queue.:rolleyes:0 -

Do you charge them for walking the dog as well?0 -
I wouldn't dream of charging £1.50 post and packing for a CD, as others have said stamp price is 76p and an envelope about 10p and personally I think the risk of low stars for charging an extra 64p is too high.
It isn't what we on here think we can justify for 'extras' it is always what the buyer thinks, and if only 1 in 10 leaves a lowered star then you can wave goodbye to best match visibility.
My only additional question here is that OP says items arrived with a 2nd class stamp..can you please clarify what stamp actually was attached, was it just second class postage which for 4 CDs would actually have been around £1.85 (packet up to 500g) or was it literally a second class stamp?
EDIT> Just noticed OP says CDs just in sleeves, in that case I would be leaving poor stars as all the weight of a normal CD is in the jewel case and inserts, a basic CD in a sleeve even 4 of them would be likely to get posted much much cheaper as the total weight of the package based on stuff sitting here on my desk would be less than 250g on a large letter stamp at 76p. Charging £3 on a 76p parcel is excessive and I am surprised that seller still has workable stars.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. if you wernt nit picking you would be quite happy with the overall price you paid ( must have been as you piad it) and would not have posted on here....
you must have been happy with the 'overall' price you paid for the cds, i should imagine they are not the only seller selling those cds, but if you had to buy then indiviually from other sellers ebay or other sites, you would have paid a heck of a lot more postage.Work to live= not live to work0 -
This always occurs with auctions when you buy multiple items. Usually included in the postage cost is a minor profit for the individual concerned.
I once had someone charge me 6 quid for buying 10 99p postage items together. These were playing cards and excluding his time and packaing materals he used a small envelope and a large 1st class stamp. Not even recorded delivery. He made a bout 4.50 off my postage... but i saved by buying in bulk ifsywim so i wasnt unhappy.0
