I tried it...there's a personal number in the letter and without it you can't get the special deal! I got it for £2.85 as a previous subscriber but that was the best they'd do!

I've just tried both; Times want £4 a week, Telegraph will re-inststate me at previous level, which was £2.85 but neither would budge on those prices, even when I mentioned i had two uni students at home - true (unfortunately!)

There was a thread on here about 18 months ago where you could get various papers reduced if you were a student or if you pretended to be . I can't remember the sites, I do know you had to quote your ID no. Maybe someone who is a student could advise?

These are excellent rates at £2.50 or thereabouts for those who can get them. I used to subscribe but got fed up when they stopped making allowances for holidays. If you were going abroad for 2 weeks, say, they would extend your sub by that amount but now you just lose the money (or at least you do with the Times)

I've got two students at home...it didn't help.

Hi, My subscription is just ending and the best offer they can offer me is £3.75 a week. If you look on eBay you can get studant vouchers for a lot less. If they offered me a new deal at £1.50 or even £2.50 a week I would take it. At £3.75 I will give it a miss.

Mines up too for the Times. I was due to phone tomorrow and renew. They are asking for £3 which is a saving of £3.55. Looks like I will have to try for the £2 one. Why was yours an email offer?

I've also had the £2 offer by e-mail it's a real bargain as the Sunday Times is £2 on its own!

I possibly received it because I am registered with them for competitions etc.
