Anti-Marketing Group...Genuine?

I today had a call from them. It caught me a bit 'unawares', but seemed to be plausible, as there is so much regulation going on around UK & EU these days!
I opted to join for £4.00 per month-but only for one month, as the paperwork takes 14-28 days to be processed and sent!!
I have read through all the posts listed on here and I have not had many unsolicited calls thee past few days.
For a test, I gave them an email address to 'monitor' which is one that I use for everything until I know that the sender is legitimate then I transfer them to my 'real' one - so that will be interesting to see if anything happens on that, as at least 100+ emails a day are junk from the USA!!
I paid for the one month service with a prepaid credit card, that has all of £5.45 on it and expires next month!! Needless to say, I will not be renewing the prepaid card!!
Will post back here in a months time!!0 -
I've had the Anti-Marketing Group trying to sell me a service for a £4 "administartion fee".
Me - "Aren't you doing exactly what you are purporting to prevent".
Her - "No we're not selling"
Me - "I'm registered with TPS - aren't you supposed to check their database before you ring me"
Her - "The TPS is only 54% effective" (don't I know it!)
I've lodged a complaint with TPS but they have no legal teeth0 -
hi peeps im new on here, im on here to sort out ppi. I had a call from these guys and yes i signed up, this was about 6 months ago, the calls stopped but then started again a month or so ago. i just gave them a ring and spoke to some guy(can remember his name) he then said he would look into it. i asked what can they do and he said they will find out who is contacting me and stop them. now i dont know how it was done and to be honest i dont care all i know is they sent me a letter saying they sorted it and a week later the stupid sales company had stopped and i have had nothing since. i mentioned about this forum, they said all customers must call them if your still getting calls. i hope this helps anyone who is already a customer. i work nights so i can now sleep fine during the day lol.0

So what can you report?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I have just come home from Work and my wife told me she has just given the Anti Marketing Group her bank details.
The trouble is my wife has had a Stroke in the past and is very vulnerable to cold callers (and we have been getting an increasing amount recently despite being ex-directory and with the TPS.) I think it might be to do with using the Internet to buy goods more - we are always careful to tick the boxes to say we don't want our details passed on to a 3rd Party but obviously some sites are'nt complying
In the past we whilst I was out we have had our energy supplier changed, our drive cleaned, vases and items bought in our house and umpteen other things where they have conned my wife. I am at my wits end as to know what to do. I have talked to to our phone supplier (talktalk) to no avail. Is there nobody prepared to take action on cold callers. I am not confident the police are interested either.0 -
We got onto our bank (HSBC) straightaway who have cancelled the debit card my wife gave to them. It means waiting 3 to 5 days for a new card but the bank said nothing could be taken off the cancelled card now.0

I'm really sorry to hear this. I suspect most of the victims of the cold callers/scams are the vulnerable.
We were getting several nuisance calls a day and got so fed up we decide to get a call screener device (Truecall). It is a one-off cost of around £90.
Truecall is brilliant - all the junk calls are blocked, but it lets all the genuine callers through. Now when the phone rings, I always want to answer it.
Given all the problems you are having, it should be a good investment.
Of course we shouldn't have to pay for a gadget to avoid junk calls, the law should be protecting us from these sharks, but legislation doesn't seem to be coming and many of them originate from outside the UK0 -
Just got a threatening email from them to the business I work for, full of spelling and grammar problems.
I have a feeling they are going to try and do an up-sell to me, watch this space.0
