ok, first the tv ads, they were getting anoying, because if gold was worth so much then surely they would be selling rather than buying... different topic
then the confronts in the street,
missing the more 'common' people out (although the queen proboably wears a hoodie on weekends:))
then the junk mail
stupid advertising pushed into us from more than one direction, like in papers too
then now they are knocking at the door, demanding to know how much gold you have, and that its worth so much and we will give you a great price... but the point is im MAD!!!
if its worth soo much then why are they buying? what will they do with it once the prices go down? im sooo mad

People coming to the door asking how much gold you have??? Is this a new breed of polite burglar coming on the scene
I do agree that all the sell your gold adverts and junk are annoying. If there's one thing everyone knows it's gold is worth money.
Although I would be more unhappy if the cash for gold advert came on and my ex missus was on it saying that she got a holiday out of her old engagement ringIf At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
I was offered a job doing this in shopping centres around the country. Needless to say it was turned down, I will consider most things but need to draw the line somewhere. Judging from the bored looking guy sitting at the stall in our local shopping centre it was a good move, especially as no customers make OTE impossible.when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it0

well you must be lucky because i can see many of those reps getting bloody noses soon0

I don't understand what you people find so distasteful about this business. If you don't want to sell your gold, don't sell it. The campaigning isn't any worse then what we've already seen berfore either. Sure I wouldn't sell my jewelry to some guy at my door, but then I wouldn't buy a vacuum cleaner from him either. But some would and I don't see how that could be wrong.0

Well as a mining engineer I had this very discussion today about Cash 4 Gold...
Basically at the moment everyone wants to buy gold because it is seen as "safer" than banks, shares etc. This is pushing its price up to $800-900 an ounce (troy ounces) even though many new gold mines have come online in the last 6 months.
Companies like Cash 4 Gold (they are by no means the only ones) will take your jewellery, assay it for the content of precious metals and then offer you a price of anywhere from $400-600 per troy ounce. Each piece of jewellery may only have one or two grams of gold in it but some has far more and if they can process ten ounces a day that's a nice profit of up to $5000.
It's obviously not that simple but it's a good way of making money as you have to trust that they have assayed your jewellery properly. Also it wouldn't be too hard to fob people off with excuses like "oh it was only gold plated" or "we use daily gold prices and there was a big dip that day" etc etc etc..
If you want to turn jewellery into cash take it to a reputable jeweller who will give you a fair price which is often far higher than that of the metal content. The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. Because they buy cheap and tatty(in most cases) gold and smelt it down and then sell it on for a higher price...one of the famous 50 -
If the spot price is $1000/oz on the open market, a company will buy it for $999 or less and make a profit.0

But without companies like this to strip the chavs of their assets for well below market value where would our market economy be?0

Most of the horrid chav 'Lizzie Duke' Gold is only poor quality 9carat gold so not worth much at all. the higher the carat the more you get for your gold, so they'd only get enough for 4 cans of stella and maybe a small bottle of white aceone of the famous 50 -
I would definitely sell my gold watch right now for some stellas, or perhaps egg liqueur and ice cream. Don't know the carat of it , but i weighs quite a bit. Post office next!0
