    Hi, advice please.
    I would like a laptop.
I'm currently with Talk Talk for phone and internet. Rang them to ask for info on laptops - they don't do them, but are sending me a free wireless router.
I went to PC World last night, they had a HP G61-110SA on offer for £399.
Is this a good buy? Or do you know better?
    Help please.
:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing

saw this netbook instore today at Tesco Thurrock... in blue was marked up at £249.00 ...great price for the spec and portability factor i say
    :D

Yep it is cheap but not sure these days if Vista Basic is the best system on a netbook (Most are recommended to be XP or Windows 7) Pretty basic meory and no seperate graphics. On the plus side it does have 802.11n for wireless connection. If it does come with a free upgrade to windows 7 home then it would indeed be a good buy!

for what it's worth it looks very promising but I only know what I have found out for myself am no expert. I would be surprised if you can still get this from Sainsbury's if that is where you were going to get it as it's out of stock but good hunting anyway m'dear.

Hello everyone. Long time lurker first time poster here.
My desktop is dying and has been for a while now so I need to get a new computer and a laptop would be the most convenient. It would mean I could get rid of my massive computer desk!
I know nothing about computers so I was hoping someone could give me a hand and help me make a decision.
Now through research I've found a computer that seems good, and then I found another one which seems even better, all within my budget of no more than £400 if I can help it.
I have been told Acer are rubbish? This true at all?

I can't post links being a newbie so if anyone is feeling kind I have the catalogue numbers for the Argos website?

    1. Acer Aspire 5542
    Cat number 5082281
(this was recommended by the DealGiant website)

    2. Acer Aspire 573ZZ
    Cat number 5083008

I need a computer to multi task on. I chat, mess on the net, listen to music, watch/burn DVDs all at the same time.
I am also being forced to play Second Life (don't ask, it's been an ongoing argument *cries*).
So if either of these computers seem ok to any of you experts then I'd love your opinions (I am RUBBISH and don't understand anything so if you could explain things very simply to me I'd be so grateful).

    Hi

I'm just looking for a laptop for basic surfing, maybe storing some photos.

I've seen the Samsung NP-R519-JA05UK on the comet website for £399.00.

    15.6 inch screen
    Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor
    2.0 GHz
    500 GB

Unfortunately, i read in a review that it was £369 about 10 days ago, however it still seems quite a good deal. I've not seen many Intel Pentium Dual Core Processors until £400.

Would be interested to hear what other people think.

    Thanks

Of those two the second one should be better (only doubt is the graphics card as I can't find details of what the second one has anywhere, but it beats the first on all the other spec)
