Ring Dell and quote the price as seen. Good luck! The offer runs out soon!!!
  • Their prices increase at the same time they offer a 'free' printer and 'free' double memory.
  • I phoned their sales team to ask about the prices going up when they offer freebies and they were only interested in taking my credit card details. It seems like pot luck as to whether the sales rep is pushy or not.

In light of this, I don't see how they could come top in a customer satisfaction survey...

    Help! Help! Help!

I am looking in buying a laptop for my daughter who is going back to uni to do a PGCE course. She will be using it mainly to write essays and link to the internet .I noticed in the Which magazine that Toshiba was one of their best buys.( Toshiba Sat M30x-129).
As the above is rather expensive, any input about this one:

    Toshiba Satellite Pro L10 Cel-M 370 1.5GHz 256MB 40GB 15" CD-RW/DVD WLAN XPH

I can get this under £500.
I have been also looking at the DELL site, as I have a Dell laptop form work, but I find the site very confusing. The advertised prices never match the final prices.

  • Not a great buy the HP in my mind - only 2.6kb L2 cache - are you sure about that? lol. Not WiFi enabled either? It's very heavy too. Only DDR SDRAM? DDR. Only a 30GB HD. POO! lol, if you're gonna pay that much, go for the Packard Bell 15.4" widescreen with a DVD RW from Dixons/Currys/PC World for at £100 more (£499) when they come back in stock. A good spec with a 50GB HD. Still, I would still go for the Dell anyway.

Come on, it's £385 with a printer... better than nothing! lol. I bought one 2 days ago, the offer's still there... it's not on their site, and they won't offer it to you. Contact me if you wanna buy it.

Thanks for your replies. I went at the end for the Dell Inspiron2200 with 512 Mb RAM, 40GB drive,+ Printer, etc.etc. I am sure my daughter will like ; if not I will have it!!!!!!
  • Cool, I hope it makes you very happy :)
  • i think this is the righteous place for me. i am looking for a laptop and the DELL deal on inspiron 2200 (totalling to £507, 512, 1.4ghz, DVD-writer, wifi) catches my eye...will i be doing the right thing by buying this dell 2200 ?

there is so much confusion flying around, its unbelievable. so say dell is great, others say NO, some say toshiba is best, some again dont agree...dont know where me and others like me (who need to buy a laptop) stand...pls advise ? thank you
  • Acer Aspire 1682wlmi has been reduced and is selling at around £599. Excellent spec for the price 1.6 Pentium M, 512 RAM, ATI 9700 graphics card, Inbuilt wireless networking and dual layer DVD writer. (15.4" widescreen)

Just ordered 1 for my son, reviews seem to be few and far between but what there are speak favourably.
