Thanks very much to the person who posted the link re the laptop deal at Comet. I managed to get the last 17" screen Toshiba from the Lincoln branch of Comet and am very pleased with it. Was slightly worried because it seemed to be too good to be true but can't/haven't found the catch as yet. :money:0

:money:Giggles,
I really did get the very last one from Comet in Lincoln I had to take the one off display. I purchased mine on Friday afternoon, when they checked stock of nearby stores to get me a boxed model Boston were showing 2 although when I phoned the branch both of these had already sold. Mansfield branch were showing 15! although when I called this branch I was told they would not reserve one as they were expecting to sell out of those within an hour. Apparently they were flying out of stores and not surprised at the price. I'm also on the hunt for a bargain laptop bag if anyone can assist.0 -

Dell are also doing a laptop for £349 which has an intel pentium dual core processor, 3GB memory and Vista home premium. This Inspiration 15 also has free posting!0

Can anyone recommend an uber cheap but reasonably reliable laptop for me to buy my son? I don't want to spend more than £250 max. He'll be using it for basic surfing etc - not for gaming or anything flash.
Thanks.0 -
I am looking to buy a new laptop and have been looking at the Dell ones as they are doing offers until the 15th April so I can get quite a good deal.
I have narrowed it down to two the Insiron or the Studio.
Specs as follows :
Insiron : Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6400, Memory 3072MB, Hard Drive 250GB - I can get this one for £375
or
Studio : Same processor as above, Memory 4096MB, Hard Drive 320GB, 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 - This one will be £434
So what do you experts recommend I go for - is the studio worth the £60 extra?
I have looked on PC world and can't see any others that match up to these specs for the same price - I am open to suggestions though.
I mainly use computer for surfing internet, downloading, Storing pics and music, itunes, playing basic downloadable games, emailing, messenger, occasional overtime work - excel & word. Nothing major but I want to get something that will be good for at least 3 years.0 -
You can't beat having a discreet GFX chip with it's own VRAM, along with the extra RAM and HD space, £60 extra is definately worth it.
With the Radeon chip it's a much more rounded and overall more powerful laptop. Go for the Studio.
Even Better is This one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-082-AC which someone else pointed too, slightly more expensive at £499, but its £87 less than normal. Lovely screen and a Bluray player as well as a pretty powerful graphics chip.
I almost bought that and I don't even really need a laptop it such a bargain!0
