    Hiya
Does anybody know how often medionshop change their stock? They had some great laptops on clearance but I faffed about making my mind up for too long and missed them! Hubby got one though (GRRRR!) and he loves it! Are these the guys that do Aldi PC s? Also is there some link between Belkin and PC World as until yesterday its been about a year since I last went to PC World. I noticed they have loads of Belkin stuff and their baskets advertise the Belkin brand!
    Regards
    SAM

PS: You'll be please to know I didn't buy anything, I just looked at the back of packets so I could compare stuff online!

Here's one at PC World. OK it's PC World but it is a very good price. It's on the website under clearance if this link doesn't work.

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/485355?microsite_id=clearance_bargains

    Its a:

ADVENT 7063M INTEL BANIAS PENTIUM M 1.5GHZ PROCESSOR LAPTOP

And it now costs £499 which is very cheap for a Pentium-M. Needs 256mb more RAM and unsurprisingly at this price it has a shared graphics.

Banias is the older (first generation) type of Pentium-M (The latest are known as Dothan) but you don't lose much worth worrying about.

Computer Shopper has this month reviewed sub £500 notebooks.

Coming in as best value for money is the Compaq nx6110 PT601ET from https://www.hp.co.uk at £480.

Second went to the Evesham Quest Explorer S26 at £500 from
    https://www.lowestonweb.com/quest.

The remainder didn't cut the mustard Acer Aspire 1362LC - Fujitsu Siemens L7300 - Aries Provision 2536 - Tiny MediaBook 360S.

The HP sounds to be a cracking bargain laptop and its from a company with a long track record in the industry.

Although the Tiny didn't win, its spec has been upgraded according to https://www.tiny.com since the review and with 512meg and an 80 gig drive it is now more attractive at £495.

Yes - don't buy from Tiny. They have the worst reputation out there for both quality and support. They don't even seem to include a backup system CD as standard.

no way Sony. My girlfriend has had to send hers back twice in 2 years with exactly the same fault as a friend of ours who has had to send hers back too. Overheating and just cutting out.

I avoid Sony wherever possible now in all products

  • Acer Aspire 1682wlmi has been reduced and is selling at around £599. Excellent spec for the price 1.6 Pentium M, 512 RAM, ATI 9700 graphics card, Inbuilt wireless networking and dual layer DVD writer. (15.4" widescreen)

Cheapest place including delivery I can find is here http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/320_237922.html

Just ordered 1 for my son, reviews seem to be few and far between but what there are speak favourably.
