i'm quite liking the hp g60 116em laptop £379 from tesco, i'm completely new to laptops, so am interested in anything you guys have to say, good or bad, about this one. will be for mostly home use, surfing, photos etc, no heavy gaming.

if this one is a winner, whats the best way to go about buying, not familier with quidco, can i search quidco for all the suppliers of this laptop and it will show me their discounts???

    thanks in advance

No, Quidco doesn't work like that. It has deals in place with certain suppliers to pay a referral fee or percentage on orders places via their portal.

So you sign up for Quidco membership, make sure your cookies are clear and then visit Tesco via their link and you'll get a payment of 4% or whatever it is into your Quidco account.

If you don't do it exactly this way you won't get anything.

But Quidco won't tell you where the best deal is among their merchants.

First appeared on the scene in August 2007 so may no longer be available (cost about £820 in those days)

True, however i no people have bought these as recently as november, so worth a shot maybe?

The £399 deal didnt come about until august 08. Getting annoyed now as i want "that" laptop (im very fussy about these things, spent a lot of time researching them), and pc world are the cheapest i can find them (the model with the 8600m that is).
  • Please can someone give their expert opinion on these? Have to buy from Argos as I have vouchers. Want to use it for internet surfing (wireless using home broadband) and word/excel. Not very patient with pages loading so want it to be a good speed!

I have set up the comparison of all five here

but if it doesnt work heres all 5 separately

Short answer IMHO - The last one (the Acer), with the 4th (the Tosh L3001DN) a close second (but £30 more expensive)

I'm still struggling to make a final decision. Was considering getting one from Dell Outlet as these come highly recommended.

But what do people think of this deal at £419.98?

Thanks, is that because of the AMD processor as opposed to Intel? Just so I know what I am looking at/for

There is very little between them to be honest. The Acer has a marginally better graphics card and is cheaper. The only advantage the Tosh has is a very marginally faster processor (but not enough that you'd notice, or worth paying the extra for).

Although it wasn't a deciding factor in my decision (but as you asked), in a laptop I would almost always go for an AMD processor over Intel for an everyday use laptop as, in my experience, Intel processors tend to suffer more from overheating, especially as they get older.
