hi i've been lookin for a top spec laptop for a while and looked at the dell xps.but found better spec and priced laptops at both alienware.com and meshcomputers.com. was jus wondering if ne one had found any others that might be worth considering, at the moment find my self leaning towards the mesh as seems best value.
also bit confused bout which is fastest intel mobile chip atm, wether it is the centrino or the mobile p4 +ht.ive looked at the specs and the p4 seems to look a lot faster on paper and jus wonderin if ive read it right cheers0 -

The fastest Pentium-M (as found in Centrino laptops) is about 2ghz at present. This is similar in performance to a 3ghz Pentium (the mobile Pentium you mention). However for certain tasks the 3ghz Pentium is better and the opposite is probably also true.0 -
hi,
any one got the FUJITSU SIEMENS AMILO L 7300 £439.99 laptop from Comet?
i need it for:
word processing, presentations, internet, email, photo viewing, rare photo editing, dvd viewing and a few other non taxing things.
how does it/will it cope for the above tasks?
anyone got pics of it in actions?
is it speedy? slow? how is the battery life?
thanks,0 -
I'm also looking at a FUJITSU SIEMENS AMILO 1630 A 34.
The spec as follows - http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/320_238830.html
Looks quite impressive fro £799 online.
Need to use it for everything really- home office desktop replacement(wireless) and to humpf with us when we go away at weekends so that son number 2 can run games.
Reviews seem a bit mixed any help would be appreciated.HLK

Can't believe no one has mentioned this laptop yet from savastore.

It is amazing for the price considering it contains a dedicated 128mb graphics card. It has scored very high on all magazine reviews 5*. I have had mine on delivery for 5 weeks now and is finally being delivered next week!!
Ps Paid extra for a 1.7 centrino0 -

I'd say it's a good buy. You don't gt too many Pentium-M laptops under £600. You would probably need to add more RAM.0 -

hi i don't think the those two sites really have better spec laptops, the big difference here is the Geforce 6800 Ultra, it even beats some high end 6800 desktops, the ultra is exlusive to DELL at the moment.
i really like this laptop as it has a Centrino which usually very quiet (last thing you want is a good laptop with excellent sound and all u hear is the fan - LOL)save me money not time0 -
After days of trawling through this very useful thread I've decided to buy the Dell Inspiron 1000 for £399, it seems to be a good price for a laptop which has everything I need, comet seem to also have a few good deals but don't deliver to Northern Ireland. The only confusing thing about trying to buy this laptop from Dell is that the website shows that an ac adapter is included with the base but as you go through the buying process an option is offered to buy an adapter showing as otherwise not included? Very strange, anyway, thanks to everyone for their comments which I've found very useful.0
