Have a look at the Samsung R60 range . Varying specs . Lovely looking machine excellent keyboard . I bought dual core 1.4Ghz 1GB ram 80GB HD about £350 from ebuyer . Their are varying specs to this machine and a fair few of the PC mags have them listed as good buys .Laptop ram is cheap now so you can always buy to upgrade ram fitted .

Completely busted this open (if you'll excuse the cheesy language!). A dell vostro 1500 for £514 (ex vat and delivery) with the following specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.40 ghz (!!!)
Vista Home Prem.
15.4" Wide Screen WXGA DISPLAY with TrueLife
3072MB DDR2 SDRAM (!!!)
320GB SATA HDD (!!!)
256MB nVidia GeForce 8600M GT (!!!)
DVD RW drive
All in all, if you can claim VAT back through your business, head to dell uk's small business section now, choose the vostro 1500 and customize it with these specs or your own choice.
Even with VAT this works out just under £600, so brill0 -

Another option. This is quite a big, heavy Laptop, so if you are looking for something to carry around every day, this isn't the one. More of a desktop replacement that you CAN move to other places if you want too
Refurbished Gateway 17" Laptop with 1440x900 res, Intel Core 2 Duo T5300 1.73GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 120GB 5,400rpm SATA hard drive, 8x DVD+/-RW for CD and DVD writing, Vista Home Premium, 1-year Collect and Return warranty from Gateway. (Nice touch considering this is a refurb.)
It's on sale for £399.99 inc VAT and delivery HERE
There's a review for it HERE

Hi, I need a little advice please.
I have about £450 to spend on a laptop and have seen a couple for £430 but there is so many different models it is making it hard to decide.
First is the Toshiba A210-1AS with a TK-60 processer. (£430 -3% Quidco, Dixons)
http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0116736957.1206969477@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdfadedjkimjemcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&chain=Dixons&seo=yes&int=deal-2-Toshiba+A210-1AS&sku=536918&channel=WEB&page=Product
Second is the Dell Inspiron 1525 with the Intel T5550. (£430 -small% Quidco)
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1525?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs
Thid is a HP G6062ea from Tesco for £380 with a TK-57, although I have read elsewhere on MSE that HP+AMD not a great mix?
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-1098.aspx
Both have 15.4 screens, vista, 2GB RAM, basic graphics etc so am just not sure which to opt for, or maybe one of the other million laptops at this price range would be better.
Basically I am after a laptop as my new flat is too small for my old desktop. 15.4" screeen is big enough for me so 17" is needed. The most streesfull thing I will need it to do is to multitask Dreamweaver with Photoshop Elements with only basic graphic work.
Can people offer their opinion? Maybe something with specs but a better than X3100 graphics card as I've heard it is rubbish?
Thanks,

Hi,
Just wondering if any of you can help me.
Looking to buy a laptop for £500 - £600. Probably will be using it mainly for internet, games and 3D stuff.
I just had a feel and look of my brother's gf's Sony Vaio. Very, very nice - but no idea how good it is for the money!
Appreciate any help
Thanks0 -
mkdons, the X3100 is absolutely fine for what you'll be using it for. Rubbish for games, yes, everything else, more than adequat.
Enji Benji - check out edsb's post, that laptop would be great for gaming (for the price that is), I doubt you'll find anything better for the same money.. unless you wait 6 months
