I've just had delivery of a Dell Inspiron 6400, which was custom made and had lots of stuff, including Vista an advanced graphics card (son plays online gaming etc) and wide bright screen. It cost £456 and everyone who has seen it has been really surprised at the price.
I think that offer might have finished but Dell have a number of others if you order directly, and include free delivery.

    Anyone got a Laptop recommendation?
I am going to have to buy one today and the nearest place is Currys, but think I'll travel that wee bit and go to PCWorld. Ideally I would like one without Vista as I've read about software incompatabilities recently. And I'd rather have lots of RAM for my work rather than just to keep Vista running. I'm doing some graphics and web design work so something for those purposes as a recommendation please. I have a maximum of £799.

    Cheers

I got a laptop from Lidl with 1Gb of Ram, 100Gb hard drive, an AMD Turion dual core processor and all the things like wifi, bluetooth dvd etc for £300. You have to look out for the special offers though.

    Hello
whats the main use for the laptop? the laptop is okay but if you wanted a 15" screen you could get a better spec for the same price. Also for £100 more compaq/hp do a 17" with 160gb hard drive but you could always get a seperate storage unit.
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something

    Hi froggy

it would be used for everything generally I suppose, no real specific use

Internet, Microsoft Office, iTunes, Digital Photo's, possibly some 3D computer modelling
Was looking for something around the £300 mark really, but this one seemed a good spec for the £400

What alternatives would you have in mind?

I also looked at this one FUJITSU SIEMENS ESPRIMO V5535
