nursery cut our daughters hair, update on page 9

update, they admitted they cut it, they said they couldn't get paint out of her hair with baby wipes so they cut it:mad::mad:.
when asked why they didn't send her home for us to clean up they just shrugged, when i asked why they lied to us they shrugged.
this is not what i expect from a surestart run nursery.
we have contacted ofsted, the school goveners and a solicitor, the solicitor also told us to contact the police.
when we called the police, we were shocked that they are taking this very seriously saying it may not only be assult, but may also be classed as abuse.
dd is now safely removed from the nursery0 -
I was going to say that this could easily be viewed as a case of assault, and what sort of paint were they allowing toddlers to use that couldn't be easily washed out. Disgraceful, I'm glad you got your young one out of that place and informed the necessary authorities.0

Fabulous update, and good reaction from the police.
Hair can grow - I'd be FAR more concerned about the nursery not adhering to her dietary intolerances - that could have had very harmful effects (did it? I take it she is ok?). Make sure you stress this as much if not more than the hair-cutting incident.:starmod:I'm a SAHM to a smiley snuggly adventurous cheeky bundle of b:male:y b.Oct10. :j
We're a vegan family. We do cloth nappies/wipes, dabble with ECing, use toiletries without parabens/SLS etc, co-sleep, baby-wear, BF, BLW, eco-ball laundry, and we plan to home educate (ideally not at home too much - we want to travel the globe).:starmod:0 -

Bravo -- well done for getting action taken.0 -
Keep notes of who said what and when, and who else was present. Is there just one member of staff implicated in this?Presumably that/those staff have been suspended?
So pleased you have reported this.0 -
I just went OMG!!
I cant believe the absolute stupidity of the staff here!
I'm so pleased you are pushing this as far as you can, as others have said, hair will grow back, but still.. thats not the point.
Keep us all posted!
Good luck to you x0 -
Im glad that they finaly told you what happened and that you are taking it further
like you and others have said yes it will grow back but it should have never happened in the first place and to blatently lie about it is awful
saying about it being a surestart nursery
i am doing a course at the moment and my daugher is in a crech for 2 hours while i do it normaly it is in a seperate room but for some reason today it was in the nursery and i was a little shocked when i saw a child walking round with a metal tape measure extended and draging behind them, i also glanced that there was a pot of metal craft scissors sitting on a low shelf that chlderen could just take as they please
when i questioned them about this there reply was that they like childeren to use real everyday items
i can understand this but both items i mentioned can cause nasty cuts and the scissors well alot of people have already mentioned what young ones do when left with them
i think next week if the childeren are to be put in the nursery i will not be putting my little one in there i would rather miss the cause and know shes safe
to the op i hope you get a positive outcome from this and that the appropriate action is taken as i think its awful what they have done0 -

Don't just keep your daughter out. Do as the OP has done, and report it. Metal scissors in the hands of small children, it makes my hair stand on end. This is a safety issue, please call your council.0 -
Also metal measuring tapes can cause a hell of a lot of damage , ive done first aid to dozens of guys on site because of it.0

I once visited a nursery where the children had a real hammer and nails to play with. Apparently, its not even that unusual!0
