Benidorm is great for a break. So many parts to it. My in laws in their 80s go every year to the old part for a few weeks in the winter.Always something to do and the weather is usually good. for them. beats the British winter anyway.

I don't usually post on this thread, but I feel I must stick up for Benidorm on this occasion. I had never been to Benidorm and have only ever been to mainland Spain once before, until last week. I had a 5 day break with my parents (in their late 70's) and my sister (we are both in our 50's). We had a great time.!! I have aways gone to America and Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Denmark and most parts of Europe, but Benidorm was never on my list.

Benidorm has something for all ages, admittedly its very Blackpool with sun (or in our case Thunderstorms and heavy rain), but it caters for everyone. Plenty to eat and drink. We were out until around 2am most nights, but never once did we see any bad behaviour, no fighting, no drunken brawls. We never felt threatened in any way, whereas I certainly wouldn't walk around any of our town centres at that time of the night.

So to anyone who hasn't been, .....give it a go. I probably won't be going back, or at least not for a while, but not because I had anything against it, but I like to visit somewhere new most of the time.

  • The Costa Blanca in Spain is a vibrant and cultural area renowned for its micro climate and beautiful coastlines.

Everyone has their idea of a "perfect holiday" for some Benidorm ticks all the boxes - excellent weather, a full range of entertainment from Cabaret, Comedians, Tribute Acts, Singers and family entertainers. Cheap food and drink - who does nt like this - i certainly would nt want to spend more than i had to while on holiday. And a whole range of accommodation form a 2* self catering up to a 5* deluxe hotel and everythign inbetween !

The workers and hoteliers in Benidorm work really hard to ensure the holiday makers have a good time and to ensure that the customers want to return year after year.

Tourism is such a large concern and if everyone went to the same places then the world would be very boring indeed.

As a travel agent I do sell a lot of holidays to Benidorm and it is one of my favourite places to holiday, and believe me i have been around the world and back again but it suits me and my friends and where else can you fly for 2.5 hours, have great weather, good entertainment and great value for money.

Please do not slag off a resort if you have never been to it, Benidorm the comedy on ITV is only a programme and the characters are not real, I have met some of the nicest people I know in Benidorm.

Oh and by the way tourism in Benidorm has seen an increase after every series of Benidorm has been shown!!!!!!!!!!

I think Benidorm (the sitcom) is great, it makes me laugh out loud as some of it can be so true to life, however I did go to Benidorm last year as we were quite close and thought we should go and see it. I was prepared for something really tacky but it really wasn't. Ok there are lots of high rise hotels and places advertising burgers and chips, however the beach is fantastic, there are lots of places where you can get local food and the place was just good fun. We only spent a day there but I would have no hesitation about going back. Unfortunately there are a small minority of Brits who go abroad and behave badly which can give us a bad name but the majority of us know how to behave and have a good time. I love Spanish food but just because I am in Spain I don't want it all the time, last holiday we found a fantastic Chinese Restaurant and have to say that it was probably better than the Chinese we have from our local takeaway. The whole point of going somewhere different is to enjoy the difference and sample new things, something which I love.
