I phoned up carphone warehouse, and they actually tell you if they've received your statement and are processing your cheque (which they are!)

Is that true then, do you still have to pay VAT on a 12 month free line rental? I purchased the nokia 2100 phone in april and according to my online account, i have 3 bills - may, july and august. Can i just get confirmation that on receipt of the 4th one, i print out all four bills and send it to the address with a corresponding, name, signature note etc?

You just send in the fourth bill which you received since you have had the phone. No need to send all of them in, just the photocopied or printed 4th one via recorded delivery.0
