    the only legal way?

so if I go to a pub to watch it via a foreign satellite channel or I use a P2P stream such as SOPCAST I am breaking the law am I?

We'll see what happens, you have to remember that the demo was when very few were watching, multiply that and it could slow to a crawl, our broadband isn't able to cope with large volumes of people watching live streaming at the same time as was proved during the olympics

This is true. I've got a decent broadband connection but I guess that may not come into the equation really and it depends more on what the host server is like.

The game will be available to watch on p2pFootball. just go to the site and click on sports-football- Ukraine V England and then just click one of the media player links.

I watch all my football that is not on Skysports ect this way and have never picked up any viruses.

    Can't add links as newbee.

That is a common misconception, and as such I will forgive you.

OMG! What a pompous **** you are.

This is a moneysaving thread about the football match being shown on the net and all you've contributed are snide comments putting down and correcting everyone elses geography and general knowledge. Get a life!

As a previous poster said, you really are the life and soul.... :rotfl:

Btw, thanks to the helpfull posters on this thread - I will be checking out the p2p site for coverage on match day:beer:

Maybe but the broadcaster certainly is, be that the TV station boadcasting it or the person sending his signal to the p2p stream.

SOPCast is different, I doubt *anyone* has any legal rights to transmit the match and it's someones tv feed hooked up to a PC and going up that way. It's unlikely it will be within the law anywhere..

For Satellite tv the match is sold to different countries through different companies. The broadcaster is supposed to ensure it can only be seen by the people in the country it's licenced to supply. (How it controls and charges it's subscribers is another matter).

Supplying to anyone outside the licenced territory is outside their contract, and so not authorised. I suppose the pub could be considered to be comitting service theft as they don't have a valid subscription, (it may be the viewing card is paid for legally, but the card T&C probably states not for use outside the country it was intended for, so it's a huge grey area) but it's probably never going to be tracked. Pubs are a different case to home use though as they are using it in the course of their business. Sky charge a lot more for pub chard, that put the pint glass in the bottom corner, than home cards).

Coming from an other viewpoint, you can't legally watch Sky outside the UK, they won't supply viewing cards outside the UK, but that doesn't stop people taking Sky cards to there Spanish villa.

It is covered in Sky's T&C but the chance of it being detected is pretty small.

Can't see why any one would want to pay to watch the match on the PC, you'll be wasting your money as the picture will be crap, and thats if it streams correctly to start with!

Why do people still think watching TV on a PC has to be crap? I regularly use legal online streams of good quality and iPlayer is regularly used in this house.

Now, I've been thanked 999 times on these forums, so somebody hit the thanks button! ;)
