Well, its about bloody time! I am angry to hear labels do not wish to risk association with overweight customers?!!! Yet they do not mind association with drug addicts. I did mention a day ago I would be trying out my new LongTallSally jeans.. They were comfortable but I did have to wear a belt to pull the waist in, not the best for your figure. I am a funny shape though. So if you need longer leg lengths..ta daa x I wonder if any of you have been on the big girls website? I ask as we obviously care about how we look (being on a shopping thread)and they are now taking entries for the 2011/12 Miss BBW UK comp? They also have nights out in Manchester and London for large ladies and their friends. I kind of like the idea but you are bound to get a few weirods that have a fat fetish. Not that liking big is wrong(my hubbie will agree) but when the word fetish is associated I cringe. Has anyone every been out on one of these evenings I am curious?

Poor Beth Ditto has gone from a size 18 in Sunday's observer to a 28 in Monday's Telegraph. Suspect the telegraph is more accurate. Even if Marc Jacobs does do larger sizes I doubt I'd be able to afford them, but hey it's a step in the right direction.

I've seen Beth Ditto in the flesh and would have guessed her at size 18 - 20 - but we all fluctuate a little don't we so who knows? No way is she a size 28. She's short, so I expect that makes her look wider.

My daughter is 4 inches taller and a stone and a half lighter than my son but he's considered "skinny" and she's considered "chubby" at size 12 - 14. Life's not fair is it? :D:o

For anyone considering purchasing clothing from the USA, China, India (Holy Clothing), or anywhere else overseas for that matter, my husband found this useful website for me, for calculating any likely import duties and VAT charges. This means you can hazard a reasonable guess as to whether it is worth your while buying something from overseas. I did not previously realise that these charges varied according to what you are importing and where from, although I suppose it makes sense that they would.

I discovered that the import duty (+12%) threshold for ladies clothing is £135, so providing your order doesn't exceed this sum you should only get charged VAT (currently +17.5%, but will rise to +20% in January).

Also consider that the courier used (ie Fed Ex, DHL, Parcel Force) may also add a handling charge, and you may receive the invoice for charges some time after the package has been delivered. (And there is some info about amounts you may be charged if you follow the green links on the website).

I had my second delivery from Holy Clothing today. I have not yet received an invoice for either delivery, but having seen auditbabe's post, I am fully expecting to be invoiced for VAT and a handling charge for both at some point. Think I will have to sit on my hands for a bit now! :rotfl:

How on earth does that work with your son & daughter. Girls are under such pressure to be skinny too, I worry for my dd,she is only 5 but she is average height of an 8 yr old & she is solid so some clothes I get her are age 9-10, I can't get jeans to fit her either. I don't want her to have the issues I have. Aargh sorry wee moan there.:o
Thinking about it Beth Ditto and the size label , clothes sizes are mental too, I'm a 22-24 in some things & a 28 in others.
    Booo!!!
  • Thanks for the info! It's a nightmare sometimes looking for stuff that fits. There's hardly anywhere in Grimsby just the usual Evans and Bon Marche. I didn't know Next had plus sizes, I've never dared to go in! I'll have a look next time I go in to town. Thanks again!

I've just found out that gift vouchers are included in the 20% offer (now extended, and still valid as I'm writing).

This means that for example you could get £20 vouchers for £16. After a few seconds you'd get the code via email, and can use it on an £25 item reduced to £20 with the discount they give on the webiste.
£25 item for £16, not bad (works out at 36%).

    Hello Lynn
in my experience someone signing up only to advertise a specific company normally works for them, You posted twice only about this company.

And we seem to have quite a few Chinese companies doing this, do they think we are stupid?????
